I think Takam was classified as a mandatory as he was next in line with the IBF after Pulev got injured. Then when the IBF came back around, Pulev was again a mandatory challenger.

One day people might figure out that Wlad was fighting his final fight at 41, Povetkin was punchy and 39, Pulev was 40 and still suffering from Covid effects but couldn't reschedule because he'd already pulled out with injury before (you can't even make that one up), Parker only had a belt because Fury vacated and he got Ruiz in the title match, Martin won the belt because Fury was stripped and then the opponent tore his knee ligament and couldn't fight on, and Whyte was Chisora level.

But looking forward to the Franklin fight, should be a blockbuster.

    Let's be honest...

    Nobody cares about AJ anymore.

People want him vs. Fury in an all UK HW clash or him vs. Wilder for the #3 spot of the generation.

Nobody ****ing cares about Anthony Joshua vs. Jermaine Franklin.

I don't care either and i watched almost all AJ fights. It's a boring fight and matchup.

If Hearn is smart he goes all in on AJ vs. Wilder in the UK. It'd be a huge fight without a doubt. And we - the fans - deserve the fight!

I've been a Joshua critic for a long time, but some of this posts are way over the top.

He has lost two straight and is entitled to a comeback fight. They need him to look sharp and to get a KO, and Franklin sets up perfectly for that. He then goes to a Whyte rematch or preferably a Wilder megafight. Joshua vs Wilder, even now, would make more money than Fury vs Usyk. It's still the best fight in the division.

But Joshua isn't ready for that yet. He needs to rebuild his confidence and settle on a trainer.

I want to see an AJ redemption arc while Fury is floundering in a bizarre reverse-parody of 2018. Maybe once AJ has rebuilt himself and Fury has taken a loss or two, these two fannies can finally get it on and prove who's the better man

Tickets were overpriced when I check last month and still it was still close to a sellout.

I think many of his fans that are used to KO wins will have been dissatisfied with seeing him slapped around in a real boxing match.

    This next opponent isn't great.

Joshua doesn't need to worry about selling tickets this fight though, he just needs a confidence booster, then he will make his comeback in a big fight against Fury or Wilder.

Yup. At a certain point its better to accept his frequent comments about staying active have only ever been about paying lip service to the fans.

Tune up fights, career rebuilding, fresh start! If he serious about this he shouldn't care less about where he fights or how much money he makes, let's be honest he doesn't need it. He's recently said he's just fighting for the money now, that's a big turn off for a lot of fans including casuals. If he's serious about winning another world title then he needs to start acting like world title contender. Get some good tune fights stacked up on the resume. If he wants to be taken seriously then act seriously.
