Wladimir Klitschko, who is a HOF but isn't really an ATG. But he was old and faded, and Tyson Fury was not impressive in that fight. It was like Berbick vs Ali, except not nearly as good, since Ali was a MUCH better boxer than Klitschko and a real ATG. Ali and Klitschko were the same age in their respective fights with Berbick and Fury.

Wilder will be a HOF but is not an ATG, but he was a one trick pony and had been very carefully matched and avoided the top ten heavyweights up to that point.

Otherwise, over his 16 year pro career, Tyson Fury has fought just journeymen (Schwartz, Seferi) and fringe contenders (Chisora THREE times, chinny Whyte, McDermott, etc). Like Wilder, Fury avoided the more dangerous top ten contenders like Joshua, and now he's avoiding Usyk and Joyce.

Moronic posts from a profoundly bitter individual.

Wlad (ATG) and Wilder x2 (HoF) as it stands.

Parkinsons Ali had been dethroned by a journeyman level fighter in Spinks and pulverised by Holmes prior to the Berbick fight. Wlad was a year removed from a career best performance, was a reigning champion having dominated everyone for 10+ years and was a 4/1 favourite against Fury. Age comparisons in the abstract here are irrelevant. Joyce recently produced a career best performance at 37. Foreman was a vastly better fighter in his late 40's than Ali was in his late 30's. Realistically Ali was never as good as Wlad (no athlete can be expected to be as good as top athletes 30-40 years later) but it's irrelevant either way as Wlad was a historically dominant and long-reigning champ. Many consider Ali to be the greatest ever, Wlad doesn't have to be as great as Ali to be great in his own right.

Easily? Did you see the fight?

Fury did not win impressively, he made no attempt to dominate, he fought an ugly defensive style to edge the old man on points.

Wlad was old and faded at age 39, we saw him struggle against Jennings before the Fury fight.

Puritty, Sanders, and Brewster all beat PRIME Klitschko more impressively than Fury defeated the old faded version!

He beat wlad without even getting out of first gear. Fury won clear going away.

Bro are you seriously comparing an Ali with Parkinson’s disease to a Wlad who was on a decade long winning streak? You sad sad man.

    Via illegal tactics.
Fun fight, but usually gets brought up just to talk about the KD, which is a shame. Plus Cunningham went on a decent HW run after that.

I think Wladimir was an ATG. He's a great HW for me.

How many ATG heavyweights would you favor to make it through 12 with Wilder?

For all of his flaws… his timing, awkwardness, heart, and of course power makes him a tall order for anyone…love him or hate him.

As has already been mentioned, Wlad is an ATG and Wilder is a sure-fire HoF - if you think otherwise you need to take a look at the IBHoF….and stop hating.

Yeah, if you only watch his KOs, he's not going to look great to you. But he was masterful, beat a huge swathe of contenders, beat the best fighter in the world excepting himself either once or twice depending upon your criteria, was a huge puncher, controlled range and distance as well as anyone i've ever seen once he entered his prime, had great size.

He's unquestionably the greatest of the post-Lewis fighters at HW at this moment and he makes it into the top fifteen for me.
