This Friday at the Aviator Arena in Brooklyn, New York, undefeated junior middleweight prospect Pawel "The Raging Bull Wolak (21-0, 14 KOs) will look to put his mark on the national stage when he squares off against the former Contender series fighter Ishe Smith (19-3, 9 KOs) live on the Showtime series ShoBox at 11pm EST. Wolak has endeared himself to his rabid fight fans for his constant pressure style of fighting. FightNews had the opportunity to go one-on-one with Wolak as he prepared for the biggest fight of his career:
Pawel how are doing in your preparation for your big fight?
I feel great. Training has is going well and I am in great condition.
What do you know about Ishe Smith?
We have watched several of his fights on tape. He is a veteran who has been around the ring along time. He has fought a lot of great fighters. Ishe is a counter puncher, so I have to make sure I don't leave myself open. However once I get my combinations going, it is Ishe who will have to worry.
Whom have you sparred with to prepare?
I have been sparring with guys like Phil Jackson who fights almost like Ishe Smith. I also have done some rounds with Danny Jacobs.
Ishe is recognized from his days on The Contender series. Does that give you added incentive?
He is definitely a legitimate fighter that has a good name. Remember I have already defeated one contender in Jonathan Reid.
How does it feel knowing that a huge audience will see you on Showtime?
This is what it is all about. People who have never seen me fight may become fans of mine. It is all about going out there and getting your name out there and looking good so that after this fight I should get offered again to fight on Showtime.
In closing, do you have any words to you fans and people who will get to see you fight for the first time?
I want to thank them for their support and hope they all continue to come see me fight. I will do my best to put on a great fight, for the fans at the arena as well as those watching on Showtime.
Wolak's manager, Ivan Edwards also chimed in on the fight stating: "I think Ishe is a quality fighter. We have been interested in this fight for some time. This fight has all the ingredients to be a classic!"
* * *
ShoBox: The New Generation returns to The Big Apple for the first time in four years as New Jersey's own Pawel "Raging Bull" Wolak (21-0, 14 KOs) battles veteran Ishe Smith (19-3, 19 KOs) in a ten-round junior middleweight main event this Friday at the Aviator Arena in Brooklyn
Bronx native Jorge "The Truth" Teron (21-0-1, 14 KOs) goes toe-to-toe with hard-hitting Mexican warrior Michael Lozada (29-4-1, 22 KOs) in the ten-round lightweight co-feature.
Both headliners will be televised live on SHOWTIME at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast).
A full undercard of top local talent will be showcased.

Wish I could be there. I'd like to meet this guy. At least he speaks great english. He'll pound his way to another victory. Can't see Ishe hurting him.

But seeing it on Showtime will have to do!

((((((((((((GO WOLAK)))))))))))):happy

how big is the ring? Ishe seems like he can take it to another level than what he has been performing on lately. It is almost like their is this top level fighter
in there somewhere if he can just find it.

Let me ask you this question: How does Wolak compare as a fighter, to Joel Julio?

Wolak is the ****! Never backs up.

The style matchup does favor Smith but Wolak has the better skill set-should be a great fight.

If Smith comes to fight and let his hands go, he will win by wide UD or late TKO.

Wolak is pretty slow and easy to hit. I think Ishe counters him all night and wins a UD.

Ishe has NEVER KO'd a quality opponent.

Aint gonna happen.

Smith like's to lay back and counter in the middle of the ring...Wolak wont let him breathe!
