Easy answer Joyce vs Zhang will be a firefight between two heavy-handed 6’6 275lb behemoths Franklin is a feather-fisted gatekeeper facing a mentally defeated AJ who admitted he only fights for money
Joyce-Zhang will be interesting because Zhang is a southpaw and will take away Joyce's main weapon - his jab. This fight is a legit challenge for Joe and I reckon a lot of interim champs in his position would've ducked Big Bang. Then again, Frank Warren's matchmaking of Joyce has always been a little odd I'm also looking forward to AJ-Franklin though to a lesser extent. As a boxing fan, not a groupie of boxer A or B, I'm interested to see whether AJ has the mindset and the consistency to rebuild his career somewhat. I DO think Derrick James is a good fit for Josh, but I think the most important thing is Angel Fernandez being removed from the picture (I think?) All in all, they're two solid fights @ heavyweight. But they pale in comparison to what we all want lol
Joyce-Zhang has all the makings of an explosive slugfest. Too big punchers who come right at you. And both seem to have good chins, as well. It should be brutal. So, let's put it this way, if Joshua-Franklin is "remotely" as good as the Joyce-Zhang fight should be ... Then Anthony Joshua is finished! Because Franklin isn't much. That's why they picked him.
Well it's not the bodybuilder v Frank Benjamin or whatever he's called. Juggernaut v Sugar Zhang is a tasty one.
This poll is literally another blow to Joshua's mental crisis, I didn't think his fight would have 0 votes...
This is a Matchroom Vs Queensbury Issue. I'm not remotely interested in that AJ Franklin fight, I don't think I've ever been less interested in a former world heavyweight champions "comeback fight". I have no idea why Hearn didn't make Zhang Vs AJ in China. There was plenty of talk about it, Hearn kicked the idea about but then went with Franklin. I'm assuming Franklin was the cheaper option. That seems to be the way things are going for Matchroom at the moment, they are losing fighters and not making "big" fights.. I can only assume it's a budget issue. It seems like Matchroom is slowly fizzling out, they have gone all in on women's boxing, Taylor's Vs Cameron is their "big fight" in the coming months. I'm not having Canelo Vs Ryder, I like Ryder but this would be the biggest upset of all time for British boxing if Ryder gets a draw in Mexico. AJ Vs Franklin is just poor, Benn is a joker who can't fight in the UK, I suppose they have Callum Smith but his profile is almost nonexistent. What else does Matchroom have? Their undercard are worse than ever. On the other side, Warren has Fury Usyk for the undisputed apparently happening, Joyce, Dubois and even the young Moses Itauma on the rise.. and he looks the real deal. Sky Sports and Boxxer are singing fighters, trying to make competitive interesting fights. I think history will look back on Hearn and Matchrooms move to DAZN as one of the worst ideas (mistakes) a leading promoter has made.
Matchroom have signed Olympians Pat McCormack, Peter Mcgrail, Cheavon Clarke, and Galal Yafai. What are you talking about ?
Thats a good sign It proves the Bodybuilders credibility has gone down the toilet. Now all we need is for Franklin to brutally knock him out
