This is unprecedented as far as I know. Im not sure Benn is going to ultimately prove to be worth it. He isn't good enough

If Abu Dhabi is ready to put up the money for him to fight Pacman, Brook or Eubank then I think his worth it.

The reason they are wanting to get him back out in June is there is a demand from somewhere to stage the fight.

Its unique in the sense that usually a British fighter not being able to box in the UK wouldn't have an option to fight elsewhere and would be stuck without the BBoC approval.

I don't think the BBoC should have jurisdiction outside the UK. The board are well within there right to not sanction any fights in the UK but as for elsewhere that's up to other governing bodies to decide.

Without any kind of central governing body for the sport or even individual governing bodies all working to the same regulations it's unavoidable. Is it right? Probably not but the fighter can only operate within the rules and if he can fight elsewhere I don't blame him for doing so.

You can throw all the technicalities at it as you want. Benn should not be fighting until he’s offered an explanation. Strict liability. Just because the WBC have come out saying it could have been eggs means nothing. If Hearn had any shame he wouldn’t be organising fights for him until he’s proved his innocence. The guy has failed 2 doping tests and should not be fighting. Just because he’s technically allowed to doesn’t mean he should be.

But it does mean something. It means Benn is free to fight. It's not Hearn who decided he can fight, it was the WBC. With that being the case Benn isn't breaking any rules in fighting again.

What the BBoC have to do with a non licenced fighter in Benn fighting in Abu Dhabi I don't know?

Benn gave his explanation, the WBC finding an explanation to allow him to box is all on them. They didn't need to allow him back in there rankings.

What if Benn said he won't get a licence in the UK ever again? Does that mean his career should be over? Benn or Hearn don't make the rules and Benn can't escape the BBoC rules if he wants to fight in the UK.

I think that's the play here, but I don't see this ending well

 

Jordan came slightly prepared, but not enough to go toe to toe with Hearn on this topic. Making a number of factual mistakes made himself look pretty silly, and as for him pretty much threatening to sue Hearn when he mentioned his disastrous time in charge of Palace, that was hilarious!

 

I don't think Benn goes to the BBoC until the legal action between both parties is resolved.

I didn't recall it. Wonder if there's something in the contractual agreement with UKAD/BBBoC that means neither side can say anything beyond very basic statements on the ban at the time?
