Anyone with half a brain cell and the backing of Sky Sports. No other UK promoter would have got near what AJ achieved with Sky and Matchroom in their heyday.
Any promoter with an exclusive deal on Sky Sports would do the same in my opinion. The Sky machine is hard to stop when on fire.
Only hardcore boxing fans subscribe to DAZN. I know people who buy Fury (either Tyson or Tommy) PPVs but wouldn’t consider a DAZN sub. The stable is still somewhat uneven but for me Shalom/Boxxer put on the most consistent televised product. Let’s face it Sky continue to put on the best show and that was never down to Matchroom. DAZN is just a poor experience (the app/the broadcast quality) even though there are excellent fights there. Warren is all over the place with some quality events in arenas and others feel like Mick Hennessy on Channel 5 from a leisure centre. I don’t work for any of them though and hope they can work together so we don’t miss out on meaningful fights. Cash v Bentley is a great example of when promoters don’t put unnecessary barriers in the way (or someone wins a purse bid…)
I don’t mean the boxing is of the highest quality compared to other promotions (although they don’t make us sit through Campbell Hatton). I mean a Boxxer show on Sky is consistently a certain level (the broadcast, the production, the venue etc). The events look the part on TV. I expect the average viewer who wants to watch regular fights, and has never been on a boxing forum, is more than satisfied and does not miss Matchroom too much.
MANY probably do. No probs with an opinion but blimey if boxxers output is decent. Been 5 fights at a push I’ve been interested in the last 6 months. personally I’m happy with azim vs charlton, Yoka vs takam, babic vs rozanski, buatsi vs Stepien and Okolie vs light for top dollar. let’s be honest the bias in legit. If matchroom put on the above on Sky all hell would break loose. Also let’s not forget boxxer are being paid significantly more than what matchroom got in rights fees
Definitely but it's a fact SKY and Boxxer had to basically start again from scratch which probably gives them some kind of grace currently Many people predicted that would change once fighters fled Matchroom and that's proven to be true so the standard Boxxer will be judged by will become harsher with each show
Sky Sports and the public will demand as a minimum comparable headline fights and cards with BT Sports and DAZN UK. The problem all three have is the depth of stables to support three different broadcasting platforms.
This did age pretty well I must say. Since this post, Matchroom signed Sunny Edwards, Regis Prograis, Jack Catterall, Justis Huni and Andy Cruz as high-profile signings, plus several other lower-profile ones like Rocky Hernandez and Shannon Ryan. @Trafford @Puroresu_Fan
Given I started the thread, I did wonder why it popped back up again. My original post was a question based on specific elements at the time, in the UK scene, and that Matchroom may be more focused on the global market than filling up cards like they did with Sky so losing the likes of Jonas, Buatsi, Okolie may not bother them. You've just quoted 2 decent UK male signings, a female which is inconsequential in the scheme of things, and some good signings around the world that suit Matchroom's current market ambitions. Not sure you've made any difference to the thread here.
Hearn is a narcissistic scumbag. Fake tears when Patrick Day died but tried his best to get a roided up Conor Benn in the ring. Wouldn't let Buatsi fight Pascal if VADA wasn't in the contract but then disregarded VADA 2 weeks later when the Benn news came out. Keeps failed drug tests from opponents e.g. Whyte v Rivas. A conman and a compulsive liar.
Why do you tag Trafford in all your pro-Matchroom posts just message him separately and ask him to get you Hearn's autograph.
