Sky and Eddie Hearn need each other badly. That show last night was just awful, and I like Eddie but can’t say his DAZN venture so far is much of a success either.
Surely by now Boxxer should be providing decent cards. These cards are like the ones that Eddie delivered for sky in his last few months, when everyone knew he was leaving. Aside from the all woman's card most of Boxxer's offerings have been poor.
great idea from lil Ben to sign up ***THE OLYMPIANS*** and put them in crap record padding fights for 4 years, by which time Hearn will be back and he will be demoted to doing Prizefighter knockoffs at Alty Ice Rink again
Its not all been bad, they got Brook vs Khan, Smith vs Eubank and they have really raised the profile of a few fighters. Marshall, Riakpore & Billam Smith were almost unknown undercard fighters before Boxxer. I went to one their first shows in Newcastle (oct 21) and then it really felt like they had just grabbed a patchwork of any fighters they could get to assemble a show where as now it seems like they have a plan, a stable of possible future stars they are trying to build and a few seasoned pros. It was always going to take time starting from scratch. But I do agree, the level of shows overall hasn't been great and I would of expected them to have moved a bit faster, also if they think Okolie is going to be a popular star of the show they are almost certainly going to be disappointed
So you liked the all women's card did you? Women's boxing is nice isn't it? I also enjoy some high quality boxing, especially in this day and age I just can't get enough of women's boxing.
Shalom has no idea what he is doing. Signs Matchrooms cast offs and puts the most boring fighter from these shores as the headliner. He wont be around for long.
They were terrific weren't they? Like you said especially them two! I wish they'd do it more often, stuff the men's.
Okolie is never, and should never headline cards,he hasn't got the personality or the attributes to do so,I.e being in exciting fights Think Ben shalom has done OK but he really needs to motor on now,he's been given the platform and now needs to deliver exciting cards over the next few months
Oh no, I bet he’s going to be devastated to hear that from some bum who lives in a bed sit in one of the grimmest parts of East London lolol.
The only decent shows they’ve put on have been PPV tbf… Matchroom’s shows are better in every aspect, but still the quality is spread to thinly. I don’t think you’ll get a partnership like Sky & Matchroom for a while, everything clicked into place for a few years, perfect storm.
It hasn’t worked out thus far but it hasn’t exactly been terrible either…Dazn are on the Sky platform now if you’ve registered up so lets see if this changes anything.
The best British Promoter by far for putting on Saturday might shows is Mick Hennessey. Just look what he done on Channel 5 on a shoestring.
