Frazier was made for Foreman like a tailor made suit.

Yes. I believe older George Foreman would have stopped Joe. Older George was a little more patient, and a bit slower, so I could see Joe lasting into the later rounds, but I believe old George would eventually get him.

Thanks. I lost some weight recently. My family claims I look better that way.

    Hmm. Interesting one.

It’s natural to jump to some sort of comparison with Foreman vs Qawi with some obvious difference also.

Dwight had some successes vs George. That was early in the comeback though - George a relatively svelte 235 lbs vs 257 lbs for Holyfield.

I hate to write off such a great fighter like Frazier in all circumstances due to stylistic disadvantages - but those disadvantages were so prevalent against Foreman in 73 and 76.

But George was a lot slower in his 2nd incarnation - Joe might rate a better chance than first thought via his normal style and even better, via a style that included a greater degree of evasiveness - as per the 76 fight.

But then the hope of George gassing would be that much less as we know Old Foreman managed his stamina so much better via more considerate pacing and meter.

The Qawi fight was fun to watch. Dwight was such a pest to George and he really nailed him with some good shots. I remember reading that Foreman felt too light at 235.

You’re so right - it was a fun watch and “pest” is a great description for Dwight - and the shots he caught George cold with were notably flush and clean.

Even at the lighter weight, I recall George looking a bit tired by the time Qawi finally surrendered.

A curious sight too - 6’3” vs 5’5 1/2”, Qawi weighing in at a roly poly 222 lbs himself.

    Short answer: No.

Long answer: Old Foreman struggled with many mediocre fighters nowhere near the caliber of Frazier, giving me confidence Frazier can overcome a stystical disadvantage... if it even exists at this point. Foreman lost perhaps his greatest attribute in dealing with Frazier. His speed, and more specifially his combos. I don't think he has much to hold Frazier off, from getting inside at this point.

    Frazier UD or late TKO.

I think Frazier would have struggled with Old Foreman simply because of his size and power. Hard to plow into a big guy like that when you are 50lb lighter. Foreman was also more relaxed and fought at a steady pace. His jab was also much more developed and a major weapon in its own right.

That all said, Old Foreman was also much slower and less explosive. I think Foreman's sheer pace and volume were what helped wreck Frazier in their fights. So Frazier would likely do better and possibly have an outside chance of beating Old Foreman, but I'd still favour Foreman.

This. I think if it did come to a TKO it would be because George's would look like he'd gone through a shredder machine. I don't think old George would gas out.

It would just be too much for George, though I wouldn't be surprised if he scored a knockdown.

An Old Foreman whoops an old Frazier. Period.

I hate to write Frazier off. In his prime, he is probably too fast and elusive, even with the stylistic disadvantage.
