Fighters nobody has said are overrated on this forum?

Ok..so make your argument about Lopez being over overrated. This will be interesting. And please don't skin out by saying "it wasent me who said it" type stuff.

 

His best win is probably Rosendo Alvarez. He just wasn’t beating serious opponents.

 

Lopez came through after being cut from a butt at the end in their rematch and gave up 5 lbs to do so. I remember the 12th round Lopez's punches were magnets to Alvarez's face. Their first fight is Lopez only blemish on his pro record due to the head but stoppage Draw.
That's not his best fight though.

 

I always thought Lopez's domination against Sanchez and contributing to the Puerto Rico vs Mexico rivalry was a better a fight.

 

I don’t know if anyone’s picked up on this as I haven’t yet read through, but in this forum I seem to recall that most ATG(or close to ATG) HWs have been described as overrated somewhere on here on various occasions. From Louis to Ali. Marciano to Holmes. Dempsey to Tyson. Frazier to Foreman. I doubt there’s many exceptions to this rule, though I’ve noticed that Lennox Lewis isn’t labelled as overrated quite as often as most of the others.

Mind you having said all that about the heavyweights, I’m about to sort of, slightly contradict myself by the following:
I’ve never seen these two LHWs…but who also fought at HW…Archie Moore and Michael Spinks
…described as overrated by anybody in here. Not ever. But since I’ve only been on here around 9/10 months I could quite possibly have missed it.

Lewis certainly has his detractors in here, like most bigtime heavyweights. Quite a few.

 

You’re right of course. He certainly has his detractors, as all the HWs do. I’m just saying I haven’t seen as many against him as I’ve seen about others. I obviously haven’t seen as many threads as some of you seasoned campaigners, so I could be way off, but I get the impression that Lewis ticks most of the boxes for a lot of the guys on here.

 

Sal Sanchez who I think is a tad overrated and I'm a big fan of his.

 

mcvey actually said it just the other day and explained his reasoning.

 

Larry Holmes is hilariously overrated, and he's in my top 10 favorite boxers.

well he is 50 - 50 vs our guy ... and our guy many say is overratted also .... probably more so than Larry , Unfortunately
