So much for being an intriguing prospect. I was never high on him, but I thought he could do better than losing to a complete journeyman.

I guess his lack of power caught up with him.

I haven't seen him fight, but I always was bothered by his lack of KO's. I know it's early in his career, but given the guys he fought you would think he would have starched two or three of them.

I saw it, though I wasn't fully tuned in since I was on the phone. But he had trouble with dudes aggressive style. He was getting caught with winging shots, and didn't seem comfortable with the pressure. Barthelemy had been warned for holding throughout the fight. Near the end the ref issues his final warning and tells him he'll take a point if he continues, which could cost him the fight, and it did. The ref took a point from Barthelemy in the final round for holding.

Not everyone is made for the pros, no matter how good an amateur you were, I guess Barthelemy could be one of those guys.

Big win for the journeyman Marquez though, always nice for an underdog to have his day once in a while.

I am not even that high for Gamboa either. The guy is good. But I dont think he is the God many people seems to think he is. The guy has lots of experience. At least twice of any USA prospect. So I am going to wait until I see him against better opposition before jumping on the wagon

Anybody who saw Barthelemy's previous fights should have seen something like this coming.. not to an opponent THAT bad though. He can't deal with any kind of constant pressure and he doesn't have the power to get his opponents' respect, it's as simple as that.

Wow, that's a shocking upset... I guess professional boxing is bad for Yan's style... he was struggling vs. no-hopers and failed to deliver one single KO... that makes Gamboa look good in a way - he's eating any kind of competition alive. He really is the best Cuban pro prospect since Casamayor.

well its a 6 round fight. Probably in an 8 rounder he would've won
