Fights that should have been stopped earlier?

Oscar Albarado v Koichi Wajima I - Wajima was a mess. Both eyes swollen shut and bleeding from the nose and ear, it took 3 brutal knockdowns in the 15th before the ref stopped the fight. Very brave cormermen.

 

Loads, I would imagine, one of the most sickening and stomach turning was the punishment Billy Collins took at the hands ( literally ) of the cruel sadistic, piece of trash that bore the name Luis Resto, round after round poor Billy was sent out to be brutalised by the unfeeling uncaring monster before him, how Billy's dad could both send out his son and witness this abbroent slaughter, round after round is beyond me, I have only watched 3/4 rounds of this fight, it was enough to sicken me to my stomach, it was borderline manslaughter, a dark ( there has been a few ) day in the annual's of boxing, lessons should have been learnt, not sure they were....
RIP Billy.

 

Calzaghe-Lacy, i know this one went the distance but it shouldn't been stopped by about the 9th IMO.

 

Agreed, allowing Moore out for round 8 was criminal. As far as a mismatch goes Holmes vs Cobb

The Bowe corner should have pulled their guy out of both fights w/ Golata. I thought the Calzaghe --Jones fight should have been stopeed with that horrible cut--if it was Calzaghe cut the bout is stopped. Marquez against Mullings was bad too. The Mancini--Bramble fights should have been stopped earlier or at least the corner stop it.

Nigel Benn vs Gerald McClellan.Mancini Vs Kim.The first fight ended with McClellan with brain damage (Blind & 80% deaf) Second fight ended with the death of Kim & the main reason why they changed champion fights from 15 rds to 12 rds & why they changed weigh in for champion ship fights from the morning of fight to the morning the day before the fight.

 

what about Gerald McCellan vs Benn.

 

Some may not agree, but l thought Ray Mercer v Tommy Morrison went on a few punches too many

The ref was a little slow to jump in, imo. 7 seconds elapsed between the commentator describing Paret as "almost helpless" & the ref jumping in.

 

Foreman - Frazier 1. 3 knockdowns is enough. The same goes for Johansson - Patterson 1. Dempsey - Willard, and Dempsey - Firpo (even though we would have been deprived of one of the most dramatic moments in Heavyweight History).

 

Frazier-Quarry II - even Frazier was begging Louis to stop it.

 

Benn/McClellan and Kim/ Mancini were competitive fights until the very end.
In fact, Benn vs McClellan could've been stopped with in the 1st 2rds for McClellan. ( It probably would be stopped today)
No one could've reasonably predicted the results of those fights. I saw both live. Never thought McClellan or Kim were getting hurt bad enough that would end in very serious injury and death.
If anything, I thought Benn could get seriously hurt when considering McClellan's reputation and how the first few rds of that fight went.
