If Zhang was 5 years younger and didn’t gas in his previous fights I think a lot of people would have picked him.

I did think Zhang would hurt Joyce whose chin was vastly overrated after facing Parker and Dubois who didn’t land anything notable. Joyce didn’t really set the pace though to cause Zhang to tire.

Joyce was lucky that Howard Foster stepped in during round 2 or he could have been stopped then.

Are you going to deny that that was certainly a possibility? Like I said, I never said Joyce was robbed, merely Zhang ****ed his eye up early, and benefited from it. That in no way means anything in the grand scheme of things. Most thought Joyce would lose the early rounds, some even thought he'd be dropped and then come roaring back, but due to this particular circumstance, that outcome wasn't possible. This is boxing, crazy **** happens all of the time, hell.... by all rights Fury should've lost to Otto Wallin by TKO, his eye damage was horrendous, but that ref let him fight with it for 10 rounds. If Foster hadn't of stopped the match, who knows what would've happened. Maybe Joyce would've been KTFO, maybe he'd have TKO'd a badly gassing Zhang, who by the 7th was reduced to throwing like three punches per round.

Joyce showed he could not jab with Zhang throughout the fight he was slower.

The swelling was caused from Zhangs left which was landing frequently, and it's not as if Joyce was winning the fight. Definitely not a fluke scenario.

Yes, his timing's really good, as is his ability to close distance fast. Very decent handspeed for a giant as well, and his accuracy and shot selection are excellent. His only weakness here is a really sharp, penetrating jab. He has to rely on parrying, pawing, probing then exploding with shots when he senses an opening. That sneaky left straight though, what a nasty shot.

Yes to eye damage. And the potential for more serious eye damage, it's a fight FFS. You're staying the obvious, mate.

Joyce's chin took Zhangs best shots up until the stoppage.

He didn't hit the deck, he was still in the fight chin- wise. And still coming forward. And he would of continued coming forward.

If, (and I know 'if' is a overly used term in boxing) Joyce NOT had eye damage then the fight for him was far from over, imo.

But no way was Joyce's chin or heart, or engine, was cracked at the time of the stoppage....

The damaged eye was the issue....but as I've already stated in earlier posts, it's the fight game. No excuses from me for his loss, just my reasoning. There's a difference.

Yes fingers crossed he will. The matchmaking in the UFC is absolutely brutal but the good thing about that is losses aren't anywhere near as damaging to a fighter's career as they are in this sport.

He should've done that. Maybe he should come in heavier next time instead of very light by his standards of late and sit down on his shots because he not only came in light he abandoned his slickness too

Impressive performance by Zhang I thought Joyce would stand up to his power and beat him.

Joyce was receiving an average of 7 or 8 clean bombs per round. He did the chicken dance at least twice. That chin was going to be broken tonight. Everybody could see it, the referee too. This fight only had a feasible end, joyce's chin broken and a career ending beating.

Yeah, that's great. But you're also trying to argue with someone who never denied the results. Nor did I ever say Zhang was the rightful winner. Merely stating facts. You're just over the moon, because you said Joyce was a hypejob, and disagreed with me, when I said he was a top tier talent, and now you're attempting to slyly passively aggressively and yes pettily rub it in. Good for you, you got one right, I got one wrong. Ultimately this means **** all, because Joyce will come roaring back and prove you wrong several more times.

    This.

And can anyone say WHY the ref felt the need to stop matters there?

I would have been somewhat excusable if he had delivered an eight-count, but he didn't even do that.

I think in hindsight, round two could have been scored 10 - 8.
