We know he'll never challenge Zhang. So hopefully Fury will get all giggity at the result of tonight's fight, and promptly sign on to fight the Juggernaut sometime later this year, and end up taking an L. Because let's be honest, Fury doesn't have Zhang like power as a deterrent, nor does he have his pinpoint accuracy. Joyce is still a very dangerous fight for him.

Yes, a very strong possibility. Joyce simply wasn't getting back into the fight with that eye worsening.

Also Zhang constantly had the reach advantage as he was penetrating Joyce's guard at will. He was connecting flush in the power zone of his shots, while Joyce was hitting his guard fairly regularly. When Joyce had his best moments he was knocking Zhang off balance rather than wobbling him. He'll need to find a way to connect on some power shots for the rematch, probably best done by letting Zhang tire.

Yes, Joyce did take good shots and they wobbled him, momentarily. Why didn't Big Bang, Bang again and finish it then?. , If it was as obvious as everyone one else 'could see it' , Zhang didn't and obviously couldn't, because it wasn't that obvious!

Joyce lost tonight, I'm.not arguing that. Had he took the shots clean on his chin, rather than his eye, then he would no way have had a refs stoppage at that point.

I feel he would have turned the fight around had he not had eye damage.

he couldnt see the left anymore, you were about to see zhang go out and put every oz of leverage into that shot...cause thats what i would have sent him out to do.

Zhang is a bit reminiscent of Corrie Sanders; when a big, hard hitting southpaw spams a quick straight left even the best heavyweights are vulnerable (see both Klitschko's).

For what it's worth I think Joyce would have won by TKO if his eye had held up. I'm not too sure this result is too negative to his predicament anyway; He is 37 so time isn't exactly on his side, and he wasn't getting the big fights he wanted anyway. Looking at Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora, a loss isn't exactly an impediment to getting big fights (whilst not having a promotor willing to put up the necessary money is). I would still put him as a favourite against contenders such as Whyte etc, give him a good chance against Wilder and AJ, and a fighting chance against Fury.

Big Bang, like we said, is one of the few HWs capable of cracking Big Joe's chin but unfortunately his power was able to destroy Big Joe's eye before we got a chance to see if Big Joe's stamina was going to drown him in the second half of the fight. But coming in that light and abandoning his slickness was about as pointless as washing the ship's hull. So tactically they got it badly wrong too

But Big Joe's size, toughness pressure, and power are still a nightmare to deal with for the vast majority of HWs and just because a slick murderous punching man mountain giant like Big Bang was able to overcome him tonight doesn't mean many others will.

He might have done but it's clear that even without eye damage Joyce was struggling massively defending against Zhang's short straight left and he wasn't circling the right way to take the edge off it. Poor tactics from the off and a lack of preparation dealing with the angles a southpaw brings to the ring.

Fight would likely have been a scrappy ugly type of affair with Joyce landing pitter pat shots and jabs of a shelled up Zhang who keeps tagging him with eye-catching left straights and the odd hook to keep the rounds close. Probably similar to the Hrgovic fight but with more activity and lot less sharpness from Joyce. That's if the repeated left hands he takes from Zhang don't cause some other type of damage along the way.

you mean like in the second when the Ref literally dove in and broke it up to let Joyce recover.

I am a huge Joyce fan. Yes. So what?

And I don't think that Joyce took Zhangs, Bangs without some problem ...but he took them, and kept coming forward. He was still very much in the fight

Other than the eye damage, the problems weren't obviously fight changing to me at that point . Joyce is unique in that he could very well have turned the fight around.

But he did have eye problems, and he got stopped by the ref.

We'll never know the outcome had he not had the eye damage.

You see the fight your way, I see it mine.

Joyce isn't coordinated enough to do that anyway.
