When he came face to face with Zhang he looked noticeably shorter than him.

A lot of folk seem fixated on the height of heavyweights, whatever their stated or disputed height is, the fact remains Hrgovic, Fury etc are behemoths,

Joyce, Hrgovic and Zhang are all pretty close. Joyce is 6’5 1/2” and may actually be the tallest of the 3, although him and Zhang are hard to split. Hrgovic is probably 6’5”.

I think from a boxing perspective, functional height is really up to the shoulders. That is where the punches are coming from; it doesn't really matter where the top of the head ends (long neck and big head don't really confer advantages). If anything, Hrgovic's shoulder and chin is higher than Zhang's. It's also why I thought the height difference between Usyk and Joshua were overblown because Usyk has high shoulders, a squat neck, and a short head.

He was usually reported as 6'7 as an amateur, and in his first amateur world tournament was even listed as 6'9. He looked taller than both Joyce and Hrgovic at their weigh ins, where you could see them without shoes. No idea if that means they're below 6'6, but Zhang is definitely at least 6'6.

And Joshua is listed as 6'6 and he looks a bit taller than Zhang when they met in Saudi Arabia, maybe it was because of Joshua's hair while Zhang has been bald for a long time...

Lol I think people like you are fixated with these guys heights which is why you act like 6'6 is a behemoth when in reality there were guys this height and taller for the last 50 years.

Would you not consider head movement to be a functional asset during a fight. Head movement does a lot more than just avoiding punches

Head movement is huge, but it really doesn't have anything to do with headsize. Neck length is slightly more relevant, but most head movement is coming from slipping and ducking from the body, not the neck (Muhammad Ali-style lean back leaves the chin extremely vulnerable). I mean, some boxers with the greatest head movement in the game have extremely short necks (think Mike Tyson)
