Zhang aimed Joyce's right eye. The only way to stop the Briton.

    Reading some newspapers today I read many say Zhang intentionally and very slyly aimed to Joyce right eye for all fight to get a TKO given that is known the Briton has a granite chin. Judging by the results he did very well.

    Agreed?

    Eh, it was merely a stroke of luck. Without the shot that busted his nose and wobbled him, which most likely led to the swelling, Zhang wouldn't have had that to target. If anything, it was an on the spot improvised strategy, after the fact.

    He wasn't aiming the right eye in particular, he was throwing great left hand, being a southpaw and the normal outcome of getting cross after cross is your face smashed or the right half of it.

    After the swelling—obviously. Beforehand? Some newspaper might interpret the rear straight aiming to the left as a sign of him targeting it, but I interpreted it as Zhang trying to discourage/catch Joyce slip jabbing/taking his head off-line.

    Many say was a set up strategy: dont go for the KO hitting the chin but try the stoppage hammering Joyce's right side face. But might be Zhang decided to adopt this strategy during the fight. Who knows? For sure he didnt aim Joyce's chin and most of the Chinese's blows were landed on Joyce's eye. He made the most of being southpaw in this way.

    There are no excuses for Joyce's defeat, Zhang knew what to do, took advantage of Joyce's mistakes in defense, was precise and won...

    Low output counter-punchers like Zhang typically have a high connect percentage %.

    Zhang mastered his counter left and against a largely stationary target like Joyce it become a serious weapon.

    However, what surprised me the most was Joyce's failure to constantly move to the left and reset Zhang to take away his power hand. I'm disappointed, I thought he had more ring IQ than that.

    Exactly. I hate the British media, I'm a fan of Joyce but I hate how the media always makes excuses for our athletes. Zhang won fair and square.

    Commies always aim for the eyes. Especially on opponents who never move their head. That's why you have to bob and weave; Commies can't handle movement. Their rigid ideology doesn't allow for freedom of action.

    The ref saved Joyce in the 2nd round, he wa about to go down, it was clear Zhang could take Joyce`s shots far better than Joyce could take the big bangs, Joyce was going to be stopped.
