Agreed, the ref is critical here. I voted Tyson by stoppage, but if Luis Pabon was the ref and let Wlad get away with as much holding as he did vs Povetkin, I honestly think this becomes a 50/50 fight.

Even in his prime, I think Mike was more vulnerable if you could get get him into the late rounds. The question is: Could Wlad do that? Personally, I doubt it. Looking back over the Lineal Champions, I doubt if there are many who could. In this match up, I'm going with Tyson by knockout.

Agree. Early in his career, Mike Tyson was a master of slipping the jab and lunging into range to reap havoc with those combinations. He could take hard shots too and go 12 rounds. And Wlad for all his qualities didn’t have that great of a chin. The left hook was also one of his big weaknesses and Tyson’s left was lethal

I maybe talking balls here but if Wlad is intimidated could turn out a bit like the Tony Tucker fight? If this is in the 80s then Tyson seemed to freak out everyone even before the opening bell.

Wladimir Klitschko has never seen anything like peak (1988) Mike Tyson in the ring.
However, Mike Tyson fought with a better quality than Wladimir Klitschko, and that was (although he was not at his peak at the time) Lennox Lewis.
Mike Tyson won (1987, still not peak) on points Tony Tucker and James Smith, both of whom have a better chin than Wladimir Klitschko.
If any version of Wladimir Klitschko were to enter 1988, and the referees do not allow clinching, wrestling (Povetkin and Haye), etc. Wlad would be run over.
Just as a Mike Tyson knockout win is possible throughout the fight, the same thing can happen in the second round. nor should judges allow this:

    This content is protected

because it can throw Mike Tyson off his mental balance, and then it can change the whole outcome of the match.
Combo variations, head movement, speedkills ideology... that Wladimir Klitschko has never seen in the ring.

Thank you. The BEST Wladimir Klitschko who was trained by Manny Steward 2006-2014 barely lost ANY rounds. I mean how many rounds did that Wlad lose??? Maybe six or seven?!

If Buster Douglas could outbox and KO prime Tyson… I’m pretty damn sure the best Wladimir Klitschko could too.

Wlad by KO within 9. Hit too hard and jab was too good.

    Stopped By Trial Horse Purrity

Stopped by Flash in the Pan Sanders

    Stopped by Heavybag Impersonator Brewster

Almost stopped by Never was Williamson

Almost stopped by unskilled Caveman Peter

Absolute afraid to let his hands go vs a unproven green Fury.

What WK brings to the table Tyson has seen ten fold...........size, power, skill, jab.............until the Douglas fight you can count on ONE hand how often he was seriously hit.

Out of the above six fighters Tyson would guaranted wax five within the distance.

WK aint got the chin or mental fortitude to succeed, Tyson by KO within three rounds max .......Manny Steward cannot fight for him btw.

For a second there I thought you said Caveman Lee!

Who btw was also trained by Manny Steward

But picturing the 160 pounds Lee who got stopped in round one by Marvin Hagler, for one second, I thought ahhh 60 year old Lee almost dropped Klitschko?? When did that fight take place?? Then I realized you said Peter, not Lee!

I think Wladimir could be intimidated by Tyson, he let Fury get into his head. And at times Wladimir could be like a deer in the headlights when he was hurt, which is not a good attribute to have against a lethal finisher like Tyson.

Overall Wladimir has the size and reach to give Tyson problems, aswell as the clinching game which could be a weakness for Tyson.

But overall I see Tyson stopping Wladimir.

    yes i totally see the similarity between a 5'11 220 guy and a 270 6'8 guy.

Your missing the point I'm not comparing Fury to Tyson, I mean its plainly obvious they're nothing alike.

The point I'm making is that Fury got inside Wladimir's head, would Tyson's intimidation factor also get into Wladimir's head ?

Regardless I don't think Wladimir has the chin to survive a prime Tyson, at some point Tyson will land on Wladimir and that's all she wrote.

Agree with everyone that Tyson KOs Wlad at some point, probably a mid-rounds TKO with Tyson blasting him along the ropes as the ref jumps in, ala Tyson-Bruno.

I think Tyson gets whupped by lots of ATGs, but if Wlad is considered an ATG (certainly not by me), then there's one that he can beat.

I generally agree with what you are saying but in the sense that Wlad was the dominant champion of his era, in the sense purely, he is an ATG.

You mean at the time when Wlad was in training camp with a depressed and possibly suicidal wife back at home?
