For what it's worth, Classic is pretty much the exclusive realm of @McGrain, both @Serge and I rarely venture over here. So it's not like we're ignoring anything or anyone, merely unaware. We're largely moderators of the General Forum and The Lounge. So this is an issue he's more equipped to handle.

    Hello.

As per the Rules thread in the General Forum: " You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages."

If you feel the rules have been breached, use the report button. There is no person on this forum who reads every single post so it's impossible to say what is being ignored and what is being left unread, that is specifically what the report button is for.

As an aside, picking Holyfield to beat Ali is reasonable, but picking him to do so Iin part because he gets under Ali's skin might be the weirdest thing i've read on this forum, which is saying something. Ali fought angry all the time, made no difference.

Yeah Ali grew up in that era where some guys were intimidated simply by trash talk.
    That was 50 years ago.

Holyfield came up in the era actually fighting dudes that came from the projects and had violent tendencies like Bowe and Tyson.

It's just a different era. In Alis era, you could ruffle some feathers like that....a guy like Bowe on the other hand wasn't much for words. He would just sucker punch you with a two piece at the press conference.

Tyson might show up with 20 of his homies and start a brawl at the press conference.

But yeah, Ali making stupid little rhymes about butterflies and calling people monkeys is supposed to intimidate Holyfield?

    Give me a break

I'd say, based upon the Terrell fight, that Ali fought better when angry. It certainly did not make him any worse.

He fought angry against Terrell, Patterson in I, he was at the very least irritated coming to the ring against Foreman, but yeah, Terrell made him really furious. If you want to "Get under Ali's skin" there's no secret to it: don't call him Ali, call him Clay. That really got under his skin.

Seems every Ali thread I've started lately goes back to the Terrel fight, as if that's the one fight to define him by (certainly not any of the fights where he showed vulnerability)

By this rationale, shouldnt we only judge Holyfield by his first fight with Tyson.
He looked pretty unstoppable that night against a dangerous Tyson who's confidence was still sky high going in.

So I guess this comes down to the Terrel Ali vs the Tyson Holyfield (as ridiculous as that sounds)

I still give Holy more than a fair chance against "Terrel" Ali.

Excellent point, I hadn't even thought of that, but does illustrate an air of immaturity and fragility that isn't often discussed
