    1968 Jimmy Ellis vs 1960 Eddie Machen. Jimmy won the WBA Tournament in 1968 defeating Jerry Quaary by a majority 15 round verdict, Machen went 12 rounds with Sonny Liston on Sept 7 1960. Who wins and why?

    Up for grabs for me. I can understand why some might favor Machen but he also had the tendency to choke from time to time

    Good matchup both boxer punchers to a degree, Machen beat like maybe 8 top ten fighters (ranked at the time of course)- and Ellis in the 1967-68 time frame beat 5 ranked heavyweights in a row and knocked out 2. (Persol, Martin, Bonavena, Quarry and Patterson).
