Yes - it gets overlooked now as Holmes was declining and Spinks was a great fighter in his own right, but no one saw that result coming. Least of all Holmes, who I think made the mistake of assuming that Spinks was a 175lb man moving up rather than a 200lb man who trained down to 175. The size disparity wasn't as big as everyone thought.

Besides the size factor, Spinks also had history against him: every previous light heavyweight champion had failed to win the heavyweight title. Before the fight they asked Conn, Moore etc for predictions and they all picked Holmes (and it was stuff like "Spinks has no chance").

It was seen as another Holmes cherrypick, but unfortunately for Larry he was often pretty woeful at cherrypicking (see Mike Weaver, Tim Witherspoon, Carl Williams etc).

    Jesse Ferguson against Ray Mercer

I was going to mention Doc but I see he’s been mentioned a couple times already. I went to that fight in San Francisco as a kid, when Anderson won.

Elvis seemed like a real POS

Tony thompson x 2 vs the big stiff idiot Price. I've never seen a boxer as exhausted as Price he was moving in such an utterly defeated and deflated way as if he was made of rubber as those fights went on it was fascinating lol. More so the second fight but the first he just capitulated into a weird wobbling mess.

disagree with ruiz. I was at the gym with him at legendz. He was sparring with mike hunter, gerald washington, dom brazeale. Was in the best shape of his life before the fight was even a thing. I almost think they picked ruiz on purpose to make the first mexican heavyweight champ.

Ok well it's a theory but as I remember it nobody was picking Ruiz to win
