I think a lot of fans sometimes forget boxing is a business and is if it’s wrong to maximise revenues and profits.
Yeah because they just want to see the fight they craving for & there not getting any of the revenue though I'm sure they would change their minds on many factors regarding a fight if they were also getting a payout.
First off how do you maximize your payday but not fighting or fighting guys nobody wants to see? Second all these guys get millions of dollars there’s a difference between getting paid your worth and getting overpaid being unrealistic… guys like floyd or manny or Oscar or Canelo now put in REAL work they wasn’t trying to get 20mil for the first half way decent fight.. these current fighters want Floyd paydays without putting in Floyd type of work
They should learn from Tank Garcia A big fight at the right time (which for them is nearly lapsed) will do big numbers
Building up demand and exposure and fighting them at the right time to maximise the fight value.Tank and Rayan could have fought 2 years ago but won’t have made half of what they have now. Timing is everything.
if you advertising fights at the Super Bowl and having fighters go on every major podcast then it will sell, promoters don’t actually put effort into promoting fights. Tank vs Ryan wasn’t even a big fight boxing wise it was just promoted well.. also if they fought 2yrs ago while it may not have done 1mil ppvs they winner would still have made themselves a bigger name and brand. You maximize yourself by winning big fights not stalling out matches it’s a reason why tank vs Hector Garcia flopped or tank vs issac Cruz because
True great points & i think they could have promoted it even better as there had room left but in the end it was enough to get the numbers they generated, possibly more due to Garcia's popularity & him being Mexican definitely helped push it over.
Tommy Hearns lost the big fight to Leonard and Hagler, but still made a lot of money. Perhaps more importantly, dude is an absolute titanic legend in the sport of boxing because he took on the best there was. He's spent the past 40 years as a walking God on Earth whenever he sits ringside. You can't buy that. Crawford and Spence will never have that, no matter how much money they make or victories they claim.
