Why mention Hitler though when they didn't even attack us....why not just say "Ain't nothin the Emperor of Japan can fix". Germany only declared war because the US was getting involved
They asked Ali a similar question at the Olympics and a much more innocent Ali said something to the effect we have a lot of intelligent people working on the problem. Back to WW ll a lot of people call it the last good war because we knew exactly what we were fighting against and what we were fighting for which was our way of life.
As you point out, it would have been a lot harder to refuse service in World War II, than to refuse service in Vietnam. My Grandfather volunteered unprompted for the Royal Air Force in World War II, but when he got his call up papers for Korea, he persuaded his boss to write a letter saying that he was an essential worker.
Hi James Page, I suspect Louis said this because Hitler started WWII, because he was the highest profile figurehead of the enemy and because his ideology of creating a dominion ruled by a superior Ayran race may have ultimately led to aspirations of world domination and/or been bad news for black people in USA, if the Nazi's had won WWII.
Because fascists believed Jews and Blacks were innately inferior and Americans were basically mongrels because they are of mixed nationalities. Do you think we would have the freedom we have now if the AXIS won?
Seems like a bit of a stretch to Come to that conclusion while simultaneously not even thinking to mention the leader of the country that actually attacked and killed Americans
What indication did Germany ever give that they were planning to invade America? How would that have even been feasible. Even the Japanese weren't trying to invade America, they were after a strategic military site in the middle of the Pacific
Schmeling didn't ask to be a proxy for NAZISM but that's how the poor fella was viewed. He had a Jewish manager who Hitler was forced to to tolerate. Joe was a proxy for America. It would have been hard for him to oppose being drafted, especially after whupping Schmeling .
The poster James Page made several posts about the Nazi's, including a few claiming that Hitler treated Jessie Owens well during the Berlin Olympics. He was banned around a week ago. Neon Leon joined on Thursday.
