What if Louis had refused to serve in WWII?

If the AXIS won America would have been isolated with Germany and Italy controlling much of Europe and Africa and Japan controlling Asia. We certainly don't become the wealthiest and most powerful nation on earth.

 

He would have been a pariah. Most folks came around to thinking the Vietnam War was a mistake. Almost everybody believes we needed to fight the NAZIS.

 

That's true, but I'm sure if one of the diehard hardcore anti-war brothers got to him and his ear long enough, you never know.

 

Impossible for Louis at the time to avoid joining up. Every conscientious object drew scorn and Louis was close to the
most famous man in the c ountry, certainly the most famous athelet next to maybe some baseball players. Joe DiMaggio
signed up even though his Italian born parents were harrassed very badly by the government. Lew Ayres was a well known actor who was a conscientious objector and outraged many in the country and industry. He eventually served as a medic under fire in the Pacific.

Had Louis claimed to be a Con Obj, if he had gone into the medica corps maybe it would have been ok, but the idea of a HW champ
refusing to kill other people just sounds dumb and no believable.

 

Joe did rhe right thing and he got a nice deal doing exhibitions. There was no way the U S government could allow him to get killed.

 

With his personality and management, I know Joe wasn't going to go against the grain, but if he did, they would make it hell for him.

His son was a lawyer and he contrasted his dad and Ali basically saying they were very different times. I think Ali realized that as he got older. I think what bothered Ali is that Joe was always gassing up his opponents. I can see how what would get his dander up.

If Hitler was focused on Russia why did he he invade and occupy France and bomb England?

Germany defeated and occupied Poland, Denmark , Norway, Belgium , the Netherlands, Luxembourg France, Yugoslavia and Greece . Japan defeated and occupied the Republic of China, the Philippines, British Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore. Italy occupied large parts of North Africa.



The AXIS would have ruled much of the globe and we would be isolated.
