David Adeleye Headlining - June 9 // York Hall

Shaping up to be a night of one sided mismatches with the main event not staring until after 11 knowing Frank. Hard pass.

 

They do about 12 UK regular BT shows a year, why on earth is this the third Friday/ prospect show... either the budget is that bad, they've accepted the viewing figures are rotten and not doing anything to change or its just pure acceptance and willingness to televise poor cards - I have a feeling its a combination of the first two points.

Theres enough fighters in the stable to headline shows and produce 10-12 decent cards a year

 

It sounds a bit rubbish but I'll watch it.

 

Yeh i am not really fan of the prospect shows, they did say they will be about 6 a year, but they need to prop it with proper shows. The problem with Frank's stable too many fighters are prospects so they need shows. Alot of the prospects are dull feather fisted fighters, who shouldn't be on tv. They need to stream line these fighters and show the more exciting fighters often.

 

Every Frank Warren show on BT seems exactly the same. You might get a decent domestic title/international level main event, but the undercard is full of 4 and 6 rounders where the absolute novice who isn’t ready for TV either knocks an Eastern European out with the first body shot after 30 seconds, or goes the distance in a tedious fight with a 4-84 journeyman.

Useful learning maybe, but dreadful spectacles that would never have made it to TV a decade or so ago.

 

I don’t think either Adeleye or Chamberlain are prospects as both will be fighting for the British or equivalent very shortly and both bang at their respective weights.

The card will have some of the best prospects in the country & none of them are feather fists;
Royston Barney Smith & Tommy Fletcher etc.

The last prospects show was very entertaining as per the general comments on the socials at the time.

Within the first quarter, QP have shown Beterbiev - Yarde & Joyce - Zhang and the Telford card with Heaney & Cain v Baluta was also a little cracker.

Anybody genuinely complaining must have some
Kind of agenda.

Did you watch the last York Hall/prospects card- if so are you saying that was rubbish- because that was not what I saw or heard others saying at the time.

What about next weeks show with 2 solid fights headlining - is that rubbish as well

For what it’s worth, from the little bit I heard, Adeleye’s opponent will be a step up.

I also heard that the upcoming Telford card with Davies v Cunningham will have a very nice card.

There may also be some interesting news within the next few weeks with Usyk-Dubois.

I am happy to critic QP and pull apart there cards when necessary, but personally I’m not seeing a lot wrong and I’m giving them some room to manoeuvre especially with the 2 very big headliners they’ve given us so far this year.

 

Who is the opponent rumoured to be?

Coffie or Gorman would be interesting for the direct comparison to Wardley

 

Don’t be silly. Warren won’t make any obviously good matchmaking like that. European 8-1 journeyman to be incoming

It won’t be either on them- I didn’t even know if Gorman is back in the gym or intending to fight on. Not the usual person I hear little bits and pieces from so I’m not 100% sure it’s legit, but apparently they were looking at Tom Schwarz, but it didn’t stand up. I think they are looking at a few useful euros instead.

 

What’s happened to the thread that said that Frank’s overtaking Matchroom ( and Boxxer ? ). He puts on the odd good headliner eg Beterbiev Yard, Joe Joyce but other than that, his shows are awful sub Nxtgen rubbish. Surely he can find a British title fight to headline. Even Fightzone have one of them tomorrow.
