His only hope is Usyk retiring or giving up belts after a unification.

Edit: or Fury deciding it's time to give him his chance, didn't do himself justice, deserves a shot ahead of cruiserweights or bum dossers etc etc

Good post, I would add this aswell -

1, Depends how you describe hype job ? If not as good as described then 99% of boxers are hype jobs to most. Also Joyce is actually pretty gpod and has some decent names on his CV so unfair to call him a hype job.

2, Talk about getting marketing wrong but is it not the job of promoters to hype them and market them ? We can say wrong but would Joyce or QP have made as much money if they went yeah he is ok good solid Heavy as oppose to the heavy promotion. In a game where very few boxers make cash i have no problem with Joyce being promoted to max to get some money in his pocket.

Fair points - Point 1 - agreed. I don't think "hype job" is the right phrase really. Perhaps more appropriate to describe Dubois (pre Joyce) in such terms.

re: Point 2 - my point there was more about younger boxers in the early stages of their careers. I think it heaps unnecessary expectations on the likes of Dubois and Itauma early in their careers.

Joyce is what Joyce has always been. Relentless with a great engine but slow and very hittable. I’ve always said on here that he was a KO waiting to happen at the top level. Good heavyweight, very entertaining and seems a really nice bloke but it’s a ridiculously long road back for him especially the way the heavyweight landscape currently lays.

Yes mate I agree people can be the other way about AJ, but just think that the best way to deal with that is to disagree and argue objectively rather than feeding into it

I wonder why he is so slow? He's not fat, he's athletic and can flip about etc, was an athlete prior to boxing. Are some people just ploddy? I'm a big JJ fan btw it's just got me wondering.

Less fast twitch muscle fibres and more slow twitch probably, plus his nuts bone density probably goes against him there...

No. That Dubois fella he utterly exposed and destroyed. That's what a hype job is. Serious fans always said Joyce is extremely limited but should be fully commended for what he's achieving due to pure brute force and heart. He's a breath of fresh air really. If I was one of Wilder, Fury or Joshua I'd be kicking myself that i didn't get him in the ring and take his 0 first. His style is always going to come up short at the elite level.
