It’s a pretty interesting stylistic matchup imo. Patterson, despite being chinny, had great speed and head movement. Do you think he could beat Deontay, in spite of his size and power disadvantage?

Patterson is my third favorite fighter and while I think his chin is far better than given credit for, Wilder would just about take his head off.

I think it's highly doubtful that Floyd Patterson survives long in there with Deontay Wilder.

It’s kinda like asking what would happen if you put Inoue in there with Benevidez.

I actually think Patterson would look good in there for a bit. People would start to say "Hey we were wrong about this. He's lighting Wilder up! He could do it!" And then 8/10 times after that Wilder puts a hole through him and that's all she wrote. Very tough ask for Patterson given his so-so chin and the outrageous size advantage Wilder has. Wilder himself has a pretty decent chin. Not great but solid enough to take some hefty shots from Fury and co. I think he'd last long enough until his right hand hammer found a home.

Call me crazy but Patterson could w by ko far better boxer and faster. Wilder would not catch him at close distance. He is just a tall windmill with power. Would be a funny fight

If Inoue weighed only 20 pounds less than Benavidez then that would be accurate, prime Wilder was usually like 212 and Patterson was usually like 190-195

They could fight 20 times and Paterson would never win or even see the final bell.

If he could avoid getting hit by a right, sure. But good luck. Wilder always eventually lands it.

Love Floyd and I think his speed would keep him in the fight for a bit, but he can’t take Wilder’s best shots in this or any known solar system. Atrocious matchup for him.

It in some ways resembles the first Muhammad Ali vs Floyd Patterson title bout on Nov 22 1965, although Wilder does not have the stamina, speed or footwork of a then 23 year old Ali, style wise he would be popping Patterson with his long left, also the size is reminiscent of that 1965 bout. Wilder stops Floyd late minus the back injury.

If Floyd was scared of Sonny (he was), we have to presume he knows who he’s getting in with here and has seen Wilder’s power in clips or whatever.

    Patterson would **** himself.
