Looks like Hunter was hurt badly by Rahman Jr at the end of their round. Not a good look.

Cruiserweight? There's no way Dodoo was anywhere near the CW limit judging by that photo lmao.

Super Heavy looks okay to me. Three of the top 6 seeds were medalists in Tokyo with Jalolov on his third Olympics campaign having lost to Joe Joyce in the quarter finals in 2016 & taken gold in Tokyo. Given the tournament is in Uzbekistan, he's the guy to beat.

Most Western countries are attending the tournament. The US & Britain, who have strong domestic amateur programs, can afford not to. Countries with limited opportunities to participate on the international circuit need to go or they're wasting their time going to the Olympics. Their fighters need the international experience.

Having a Mandela effect monet,,,I could of swore that Akpejiori already lost to Makhmudov, or some other big, undefeated heavy.

Anyway, less than meets the eye. Akpejiori is big and undefeated, but has a terribly padded record.

Jalalov is really back to fighting amateur again? Dychko has his one bum lined up this year? The rest of the top guys spew bs about fighting or sit quietly waiting while the others do? Pathetic ass sport this has become. Fury vs Zhang??? You can bet your life it isn't happening, certainly not in July.

Babanin won a UD against Bykhautsou.

Dorofeev forced Abdullaev to quit in the corner after the 6th.

Egorov returned by stopping Zhigaylov in the 2nd dropping him 3 times.

Tishchenko got a hometown decision against Yves Ngabu. Like some of the guys said on the RBR thread, I couldn’t give him more than 3 maybe 4 rounds. Lucky lucky man.

Yes, mate. This will be his third Olympics campaign. It's obviously a big deal for his home country Uzbekistan b/c they don't win many Olympic medals. It's hardly amateur these days either. Gold medalists in the current IBA tournament that's running collect $200k (haven't checked, but presumably in US currency). The Kazakh who medalled at the last Olympics, Kunkabeyev, is back fighting 'amateur' as well. Picking up a medal these days is probably worth more than what they can get fighting professionally in the short term.
