And I think Wilder would do the same thing if he saw peak Liston in front of him.

Wilder has the physical tools and the punch, but Liston had the legit, emphasis on that word, aura of menace and danger and devastation about him. Hell, Ali admitted to being petrified of the guy in Miami.

Muhammad Ali even named a huge rock after Sonny Liston at his training camp.

    This. Wilder is no Liston.

Wilder’s sloppiness and style would most likely get him knocked out against Patterson. Wilder likes to get space and throw his big right, but Patterson isn’t going to give Wilder the space he needs and backing up against Patterson is a very bad idea, since Patterson was excellent at closing in and punching with taller fighters, and his left hook was no joke.

Wilder doesn't actually know how to put his size advantage to good use like Liston did. Deontay doesn't have the footwork, skill or physical strength Liston had to do what he did to Patterson. He has the power, absolutely. But there's more to it than that.

Comparing Wilder to Liston is like comparing a base Dodge Challenger to the Dodge Challenger Hellcat.
    They look similar...... That's it.
Would Patterson beat Wilder? If Patterson didn't beat himself before the fight, he'd have a great chance.
Wilder is so one dimensional, and predictable, telegraphed his power punches , even a fighter as small as Patterson was, ( In comparison to Wilder, though he wouldn't be out weighted by much) with below average durability would make this fight better than it actually should be because the skill level favored him by a wide margin.
I can see Wilder getting to Patterson early and ko'ing him like Johansson did.
I can also see Patterson Ko'ing Wilder like he did to Johansson the next time they fought.

Patterson with the approach of his older years, boxing in a tight circle and using peekaboo to make his opponents miss and tire, would likely make Wilder look moronic, unable to properly sit down on his punches or align the centreline. Size difference gargantuan though.

A snow job perhaps and maybe I’m skating on thin ice, but I see this as fair proof that several of the KDs scored against Floyd during his career were due to his own, inherent balance issues: -

What if his right hand hammer remained homeless and had to apply for section 8?

Def. and Floyd was a licensed pilot also so his efforts at skiing appear to be an anomaly….we hope.

Floyd would throw that sudden, leaping left hook.

LOL No, Wilder had 0 quit and fought to the bitter end like an overmatched pit-bull in with a dog 3x its size… against Fury he was still banking on his right all night long for a kill shot he was brave as a MFer in the ring. Liston sat on his stool, laid on his back and floundered, no rally’s in the face of TRUE inescapable adversity at all on his end.
