Who would arguably be the fabulous four's nemesis in this day in age? I have written down four mythological fights which I think of as well match making for the all time greats from the 70s IF they needed a dance partner in a more modern era. I have thought of them kinda like this, here goes:

Floyd Mayweather Jr vs sugar Ray Leonard
    Tommy Hearns vs Paul Williams
    Marvin Hagler vs Bernard Hopkins
And Roberto Duran vs Vasili lomanchenko.

These are some matchups that would stylistically stay competitive. Who do you harken as 4 stiff tests for the four?

I guess next I would say to break down the reason of the fights you choose so question 2= why? My knowledge is too limited, so I'll think about it later...

    Roberto vs Vasily:
Roberto was the most talented lw , Loma was a god send to the light weights divisions, the matrix, doing all crazy types o things!

Ray vs may( money)- many people talk about this one, who is better? They like to ask... Floyd was the best of his era as sugar Ray is similar in size but best imo the better fighters.

Hagler vs Bernard: a brutal war. 2 great mws need I say more?

Hearns vs Paul Williams: Paul could take a punch from a HARD hitting Margarito and still come up with the win his display of volume punching however he was prone to get hit. Maybe on second thought this would be a dud, non competitive for Hearns to land the big right.

Floyd dosent take a fight with SRL so there goes that
Hearns beats the living **** out of Williams
and so does Duran with Loma
so that leaves the only " real " fight here Hagler vs Hopkins

Maybe thats why no one else commented here

you got 3 out of 4 mismatches

Question? Which Floyd shows up to fight SRL? If its PBF then I see an exciting fight where they both bring out the best in each other and could go either way. Money may on the other hand, the fight would most likely just be a dance contest disguised as a boxing match.

Hearns over Williams by total destruction to say the least.

Duran proved to be a quitter so my money would be on Loma to make Duran the 5th opponent to quit on the stool out of pure frustration.

Hopkins and Hagler would be interesting but I will leave my opinion out for this fight since my equal bias for the two does not allow me to have an opinion.

    For me it's:

Sugar Ray Leonard vs Oscar Dela Hoya
    Thomas Hearns vs Vernon Forrest
    Roberto Duran vs Manny Pacquiao
    Marvin Hagler vs Gennady Golovkin

These would be more competitive (IMO), with only Hopkins being about the same.

Hearns brutally KO's Williams, Williams was far too hittable and didn't really fight like a tall fighter. He was overly aggressive and like to mix it that would be his downfall vs Hearns.

Loma does have a problematic style for Duran, but I don't think Loma hits anywhere near hard enough to keep Duran off him. And I see Duran getting to Loma in the 2nd half of the fight and getting a late stoppage.

Leonard vs Mayweather would be a competitive tactical fight, but Leonard is better at Welterweight. I think Leonard's better offense, speed, would get the job done in a competitive decision.

Hagler vs Hopkins is a close one but I give the edge to Hagler via a very close decision.

To answer your question I see Hagler/Hopkins being the most competitive fight.

Canelo and Hagler would be a great fight. A war in the trenches for sure. Canelo's upper body speed and counters vs Haglers heavy jab and pressure. I lean slightly towards Hagler, but it depends on the ref and weight.

Hearns vs Roy Jones, Jones would trigger Hearns PTSD remembering his Leonard bouts. At hsk best, I think Jones might take a decision or potentially even knocks the hitman out.

Leonard vs either Mayweather or Hopkins, nail biter chess matches.

Duran vs Pacquiao would probably end up being one of the best fights in history. I would spend my entire paycheck to see it. The genius inside fighter against one of the best volume punchers. Sparks would fly and it would be impossible to predict a winner.

Floyd Mayweather Jr vs sugar Ray Leonard

The Dela Hoya fight seems like a good measuring stick for how Mayweather would fare against a good rangy welterweight. Winning a SD against a 34 year old Dela Hoya is good, but a far cry from beating a prime Ray Leonard. Leonard UD.

    Tommy Hearns vs Paul Williams

Interesting fight. Williams posessed some qualities that have given Hearns trouble; strength, good chin, aggressive style, but Hearns is proven at a much higher level. I see Williams getting knocked out, but putting up a spirited effort while it lasts.

    Marvin Hagler vs Bernard Hopkins

Peak for peak, Hagler was just better imo. Hagler UD.

    Roberto Duran vs Vasili lomanchenko.

Duran by UD or KO in a competitive fight.

I don't know much about Paul Williams but Duran vs Loma would be a mismatch. Duran by KO. Marvin Hagler vs Hopkins too, Bernard would absolutely smother Haglers momentum and win a points decision all day. Too big and good. Mayweather vs Leonard would be a really good fight- Leonard probably knocks Floyd out before the 15th though.
