Still, why getting hit like that, when he has good upperbody movement ?

 

Looks like maybe he's a bit weak to uppercuts now. Maybe makes sense because he got hurt by a Cotto uppercut years ago and hasn't really been very hurt since.

One thing I will say though is that Ryder has done way better than Callum smith.
