Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight veteran Drakkar Klose was ruled medically unfit to compete after suffering whiplash during his UFC Vegas 24 co-main event staredown last year in “Sin City,” thanks to a violent shove from Jeremy Stephens that resulted in a concussion.

One that continues to cause problems for Klose nearly one year later.

“The damage was done, I’m still not 100 percent from that. It’s something I will probably need surgery on eventually,” Klose told Just Scrap Radio. “I told myself if I have to get surgery, I’m just going to call it quits. Just trying to manage it and do the therapy and all that. I did think that was going to be the end of me. I was having really bad headaches, dealing with my neck issue, it is something serious. When I saw my doctor he talked about fusing my neck and I didn’t want to hear that. I want to go out on my terms, I don’t want to go out with the doctor telling me I can’t do this. It was a herniated disc, C6, C7, as soon as it happened my whole arm went numb, and later that night, things weren’t right and I woke up couldn’t open my eyes, a real bad headache.”

Klose, who turned 34 just a few weeks back, was largely unimpressed with how the promotion handled his injuries in the wake of his “Lil’ Heathen” shove. He was eventually paid his “show” purse for showing up on weight and ready to fight, but once that check was cashed it was out of sight, out of mind.

“There is a lot of other stuff that I will probably say when I’m done fighting but they pay me so I will keep my mouth shut,” Klose continued. “They ended up giving me my show money but they never said anything to me. To me, it’s kind of ridiculous, he really ****ed me up. I remember driving home from that fight and I was crying, I don’t know why I was crying but my head was so messed up. It’s a business for them, they don’t care it’s all numbers for them, when I’m gone someone else will be in my spot.”

And that was a shove from someone his own size

Haney is obviously massive and much heavier than the tiny for the division Loma and he shoved Loma harder than that

Yet i'm not sure to feel sorry for Klose, since he decided to close the distance between fighters and touched Stephens body.

In contrast, Loma was always respectful.

There should be legal repercussions to this type of behaviour, as you rightly pointed out it can lead to serious injury.

I think prize fighters should carry themselves alot more professionally, when they do these type of things during a weigh or press conference face off it only does them more harm than good in the public eye. Haney didn't have to go that route.

I agree with you. It serves to hurt their public persona. I will say that this kind of thing may draw in some casual fans for a PPV but the high majority of fans, casuals and otherwise, just don't care.

There's a big difference between pushing your opponent at a weigh in or face to face and violently shoving them as hard as you can

There's also a big difference between pushing your opponent if they disrespected you or were getting in your face and pushing one with a cheap shot shove who was nothing but respectful to you

There's also a big difference between violently shoving an opponent who is your size as hard as you can and doing the same to one you're way bigger and heavier than. We know he's a massive weight bully who has forged an entire career beating up on fighters he's much bigger and heavier than but now we now he's a bully period

This was not a move to sell the fight. Look at interviews with Haney afterwards, the kids an anxious wreck, teary eyed, talking all fast, voice cracking….

With that said, it’s ******ed and jeopardizes
the fight, what if Loma tripped and sprained his ankle?

Should be something athletes get fined for.

One way shove at weigh in: SHOVER went on to win 42% of the time
Shove then retaliation at weigh in: initial SHOVER went on to win 56% of the time

the numbers don’t lie. SHOVING IS a sign of weakness.

BEAT ME TO IT!

This was a clear as day tactic to injure Loma's shoulders. Disguised as a push.

It was pre planned and with pin point accuracy, Haney intentionally targeted the shoulder joint.

This isn't a boxing ring. The way Loma was assaulted here is akin to a crime in my opinion. It was a brutal attack. Loma's hands were down.

I've had so many run-ins with his fans and they are hands down the most repulsive people I have ever encountered in all my years as a fan of the sport. Even debating with them makes me feel sick. That's how vile they are.

He shoved him as violently as he possibly could and over literally nothing and then he ran away and started stuttering and his voice began to crack as he was lying to the interviewer about why he did it

It's not just a dust yourself off after a little pre-fight shove he literally suffered serious injuries which were still affecting him a year later. He was unable to fight for ages due to his injuries.

Sounds like he didn’t need to be fighting in the first place and is lucky he didn’t get in the ring because that damage would be worse if he can’t fight because of a push
