If Haneys body shots had any impact on Loma he would not have won the second half of the fight as he did.

 

You're an idiot. Loma won the second half of the fight and played defense in the 12th because he knew he had won.

Not sure I would call it a robbery as there were a lot of close rounds, particularly early on. Loma had no answer for Haney's body shots, and he was being caught by the odd left hook, straight right and uppercut on the inside early on. As you would expect, as the rounds went by, Loma figured out Haney and, whilst not dominating him, he won some of the later rounds conclusively and clearly hurt Haney.

It's an odd one really, because over 36 minutes of action Loma done more damage and won more rounds conclusively, but I can understand people giving Haney more of the early rounds that were close, but not a huge amount of damage done by either fighter, so the scorecards may seem closer than you would expect given over 36 minutes of action Loma done more, in my eyes.

Overall, good fight, but wrong decision. Not a robbery, but not right, either. I was impressed by Haney. He fought well early on and engaged Loma at mid range and up close, at times. As Loma figured him out, he reverted to type and ran out of ideas late on. Loma as always was brilliant. Fought a guy 11 years his junior and noticeably bigger than him. Hung in there when he needed to and went on to out think and out fight his opponent. Regardless of the decision, I'll always view Loma as a truly remarkable fighter.

 

The great thing about Lomachenko is his mental stamina. He comes on strong towards the end of fights not only because he physically outlasts his opponents, but because they are mentally fatigued as a result of trying to anticipate his attacks. The promotion of this fight as a chess match was accurate - it was blitz chess, and Lomachenko was denied the checkmate he earned. Get ready for weeks of ludicrous propaganda about how Haney proved he is the best in the division etc. etc. In reality he got embarrassed.

 

That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard. You actually think Loma lost the 12th round on purpose in a razor close fight? He knew the fight hung in the balance but the body work caught up to him and he had no more juice in the 12th round. You have to take the belts from the champion not coast to victory.

Stop making excuses. The body work caught up to Loma. I'm not even a Haney fan I wanted Loma to win but the crying here is ridiculous.

 

Yeah, good comeback after the idiocy of your earlier post saying, "Loma is a cute fighter but ultimately he is not a special athlete." You obviously don't know shinola about boxing. 396-1 as an amateur, winning 2 Olympic gold medals. Fought for the world title after only 2 bouts, then being robbed by the judges when Salido kept hitting him low and no points were deducted. Has won world titles at multiple weights. The guy is probably the most gifted fighter of this generation. But if you want to claim you were trolling, sure you were. We get it.

Throughout the fight Loma didn't appear to be slowed down by the body shots. But in the 12th he was clearly gassed and lost that round, a round that would have earned him a majority draw if he won it. Even in the tail end of the 11th Loma's activity level dropped and Haney sort of made a mini-comeback. Not enough to win Haney the 11th, as Loma was way ahead in that round after the great first half of the 11th, but it was apparent that at the end of the 11th and in the 12th Loma was starting to get gassed.
