Hey...so I'm really not one for conspiracy theories in boxing etc...but think this needs to be checked out.

I watched the fight on the Sky Sports (UK) feed. It's the one with Algieri commentating.

At the end of the fight, when both fighters were in their corners awaiting the decision, you could hear Bill Haney and someone else in the corner telling Devin the final score totals. The first of which being 116-112 and one being 115-113, which tallied with the judges scorecards.
I heard it on the night and thought it was odd to hear a corner talking about scores ahead of announce, but once they tallied with the judges scorecards I had to rewatch it as it seems suspicious.

On rewatching, the above ring camera clearly shows Bill Haney in the center of the ring on his cellphone moments before the shot where he goes back to the corner and the scores were discussed, along with some backslapping and stuff.

The ESPN feed does show these moments, but the commentary team are talking over it, so you can't hear the off-mic corner scores discussion. If anyone has access to a Sky Sports feed, check it out and see what you think.

*Full disclosure, I scored the fight for Loma - but to be honest wasn't really that bothered who won going in. I enjoyed the fight, but feel disappointed with another controversial decision going against broad public consensus. But mainly, I am interested to see what the community on here thinks of these post fight corner discussions?*

According to Donald Trump, Ted Cruz's father was seen on the grassy knoll in Dallas, TX when JFK was assassinated. This is my conspiracy story for the day and I am sticking to it.

Reminder an unsanctioned IBF official known as "hatman" was ringside at Khan Peterson handling scorecards and claimed he was helping the main score tallier who was "feeling ill"

And in an interview claimed he'd do do "ill will against his Muslim brother" Amir Khan

    LMAO

Then Peterson popped for PEDS and only one belt got stripped

Ignoring the paid off referee also.

Yeah welcome to boxing. Where a knockout if the only way to ensure victory. The Tyson Fury method. Now available for purchase in bookstores local to you.

It's really a miracle none of these officials have ever been harmed. If Edwin Valero or John Fury got screwed there would be a slaughter.

omg that's unbelievable. This has to be one of the most corrupt boxing main events ever. from moving the weigh in to earlier and private all the way to the scores being announced.

Bill Haney needs to explain why he froze in the corner from rounds 10-12 and Devin had to correct him on how many pinches Loma was throwing in the end of round 9. He needs a new trainer and make his dad the spit bucket man.

Yeah I heard this. Wish I'd had the awareness to open up a betting app and stick everything on Haney, apparently his live odds at the time were long.

The very next round Haney almost became completely unstuck. He barely kept it together enough to edge round 12.

The fact they brought the weigh in forward to a 36 hour one was a dead giveaway the fix was in. A fight between the biggest lightweight in the world and the smallest one, who is the biggest lightweight I've ever seen and also the biggest weight bully in the sport bar none vs a tiny blown up 126 pounder who already was outweighed by Haney by 3-4 divisions under 24 hour weigh in rules. Every single one of you know who that was designed to benefit and how insanely advantageous it was for Haney.

The fact that Dave Moretti scored the fight 116-112 in favour of Haney and round 10 to him was a dead giveaway the fix was in too

As was the fact that despite the fact that the vast majority of fans across the world and most fighters (including many of Haney's fellow countrymen, many of whom picked him and were rooting him) had Loma winning - and even the Haney fans admit it was razor-close albeit they know he lost and many of them always score these robberies, no matter how outrageous they are, and 'close' fights in one direction and always have their guy winning 100% of the time - all three home judges scored it to Haney.

A fight even the Haney fans admit could've gone either way somehow ever so conveniently ended up being a UD for the home fighter and not one of them had it a SD, a draw or scored it for Loma. Not a single one. Funny that, eh?

And Haney signing a new contract with Arum just 2 days before the fight isn't highly suspicious either

One thing I noticed before the fight which others have subsequently picked up on was that during the post-fight interview for the Robert Garcia fighter who fought on the undercard the interviewer asked him who he wanted to face next and he replied the winner of the main event. The interviewer then mentioned Loma and Haney but then shortly after he said so you want to fight Haney next? Maybe that was a genuine mistake but the rest of the shady stuff I mentioned sure as hell ain't

Please provide the link of this if you have it. Maybe some saw the scorecards to let him know but I would like to see the clip please.

It’s not been confirmed Haney re-signed with Top Rank it’s just Malignaggi claiming so. I am not sure it’s even true.

Yeah - I’m not really trying to wade too much into the “robbery” argument - but definitely interested to see what others think. I have never before known what the scorecards are going to be, before they were read out, on any fight - never mind such a huge PPV. So it was really weird. Don’t even know how anyone would’ve known to be able to let Bill Haney know in advance?

If anyone has a link to the SKY SPORTS UK broadcast, and would be kind enough to share it that would be cool (if it’s allowed). I can only find the US ESPN link online.

just interested as to what others think?

I was watching on Sky Sports and yes you can clearly hear someone reading out the scores.

It wasn’t clear to me who it was and at the time I thought it might have been the commentators talking off mic about their cards.

i always find the delay in reading the scores to be ridiculous anyway.

the second the bell rings, the fighters should go to the middle of the ring and the score cards should be brought straight up and the winner’s hand raised. I don’t see how it takes 15 minutes
