What are the PPV arrangements in Japan? It's not really an apples to apples to comparison unless they are going to pay the equivalent price in USD to Crawford/Spence. Westerners are not accustomed to weeknight boxing matches, at any rate, so that's going to suppress the numbers for Inoue/Fulton in those areas. If you are a true boxing fan, you should want the numbers to be huge for both events. I agree with @Serge about Crawford & Spence taking way too long and hurting the sport, but better now than never and it's still a more relevant matchup than Mayweather/Pacquaio was.
There will be more people in Japan watching Inoue - Fulton than will be worldwide for the Crawford - Spence fight, I live in Asia and have lived in Japan recently, it wont even be close. I'd gauge about 80% of Japan will tune in, he is a national hero whereas no1 gives a damn about Spence or Crawford outside of hardcore fans.
80% of 127 million people....good lord how much will the boxers make, assuming they get a cut of the PPV proceeds?.. At least I hope they do.
PPV is a Western thing, we get PPV channels on regular cable here which every man and his dog has. I fully expect it to be on free to air TV in Japan.
The fight will be distributed "for free" on Lemino (which costs five dollars). Not to mention that the Japanese will have to pay for the electricity to run the fight.
