Adam Azim vs Aram Faniian - June 10 (now June 16) // York Hall

Damn. Is it possible Azim will be replaced by other british fighter as Fanian is in a good shape and would put up a good show )

 

The Top Rank shows are the best content on Sky. Boxxer have two shows scheduled right now. The June 16 one and then July 1 headlined by Marshall. Great contest between Heffron and Chelli on the undercard but not much else to shout about apart from Ben Whittaker (who still doesn't have an opponent scheduled for).

I think Boxxer / Shalom should look for a new matchmaker. Their matchmaking for the olympians hasn't been great compared to how Matchroom have moved theirs for example.

 

I agree with the criticism of Boxxer.

It is also a possibility that Top Rank does shows here in the U.K.

If Top Rank want to keep making an impact in the UK they’d be better off being on the same channel as Queensberry seeing as the 2 companies get on and they send fighters over to each other. Could do lots of good business.

 

Sky need to cut ties with Boxxer ASAP. Their shows are really bad.

 

Problem is, if Sky did this then what happens to mainstream boxing in the UK? (appreciate sky do some good top rank shows,but most casual fans don't stay up until 4am). This would effectively cut off about 90-95% of people from access to boxing without taking on additional subscriptions, which most people won't do. Sky draws in a big casual boxing audience as the majority of people already have a sports subscription for the football / cricket / F1 etc so will catch a fight night sometimes. BT is the same to a much lesser extent and DAZN next to nobody watches. The growth / development of stars can only happen if people have access to view the fights, the build up coverage etc. Their are tallented fighters for BT & DAZN who would almost certainly have much greater profiles if they had some exposure to the wider audience but unfortunately remain unknown to the average man on the street

 

Give them to someone else. Warren or Kalle. Both would do 100x better than Shalom on Sky.

 

Give contract to Mick Hennessey.

 

Warren I'd definately understand and I think people would be happy with that, Kalle.....he keep his Misfits hidden away elsewhere thanks

 

Warren with the increased budget and exposure as well as his relationship with Top Rank would be the best option by far.

 

I think they've had some bad luck with injuries. Particularly with Liam Smith getting injured ahead of his rematch with Eubank.

 

Sky surely won't give control of the purse strings to another organisation again. Let's be honest, they got their pants pulled down by Matchroom - they used Sky to build them up, then left them with no boxing at all.

Just in my view, Sky's main requirement when looking for a new promotional partner was control. Any other requirements were secondary. IMHO that's why we're seeing what we are now. Substandard cards with poor matchmaking, and a couple of highly questionable high profile signings in Okolie and Buatsi.

It hasn't all been bad - they have done a few decent main events (Smith-Eubank, Shields-Marshall), and although I didn't care about it, Brook-Khan was a good profile builder for them.

Sky desperately need one of their prospects to strike a chord with the public - Azim or Whittaker most likely. Their MO is all about bringing a fighter "on the journey" to eventually progress them to Box Office events. Can't do that when they're at risk of losing the promoter.

 

this card has fallen apart so badly it’s almost at the level of a regular BT Friday night York Hall show

 

Frank Warren would be proud.

 

I know, its really bad, any more drop outs and it will be as bad as Saturdays Sunny Edwards card
