If a fight lasts 15 rounds there is a 15 percent chance it will end.

Did Liston really have much more power than Bowe? Liston was powerful and could crack, but I could see Bowe replicating his results against Bethea, Folley, Williams and Patterson.

and did Liston really have that much better of a jab than Holmes, he had 3 more inches on reach and according to Ali more power, but Holmes had better speed

He certainly had a better jab than a ‘91 Holmes.

Settle for a decision? He wouldn’t settle for nothing he’s going to be muscled around like Tyson and have his a$$ whipped. Terrible match up for Liston, just doesn’t have the heart for it- Holyfield does what he did to Moorer in the second fight.

true, just rewatched some of the fight and Holmes really didn't use it as effectively as he used to, Holyfield had no issues getting past it, I think Holyfield could get past Liston's too but it would put him in a lot more danger, Liston wouldn't be as stagnant on the inside and would actually hurt Holyfield, if Holyfield tried throwing a combination and Liston was able to create a little bit of space it would be very very bad for Holyfield

Oh yeah I forgot, everyone and their mom did this and that better than Liston according to you

If Bowe actually knocked out Patterson, it'd go down as the best KO of his career (yes better than knocking out a sick Holyfield, while having to get off the canvas to do so).

Had Liston at the age of 29, got beaten to a pulp by Golota twice, you'd be making threads along the lines of "If Liston was so powerful, why couldn't he do to Golota what Lewis and a shot Tyson did?"

Tbh, I also don't think it's a given he beats Williams. He's a solid favorite yes, but Williams had a better defense, and was faster for mine imo. Williams would be landing A LOT more than he did against Liston due to Bowe's atrocious defense, and their wouldn't be as much firepower coming back his way. I also don't think Bowe took it like Liston, as his resume is mysteriously devoid of punchers when their was an abundance of them to choose from in the '90s. Sounds like a smart decision from his management team given his defense.

My best guess is he beats Williams, but not nearly as easily as Liston and takes a lot of irreversible damages like he did against Golota. I also think the same thing happens had he faced Ruddock which I highly doubt he wanted any part of.

Bowe would slaughter Williams. It would be a beat down. And Liston would have had to fight a world class 6'5 240 pound giant like Golota for me to have any opinion on his performance. But he could only fight who was around at the time. Not his fault.

If Bowe did slaughter Williams it would be his first slaughter at world-class, and his first win over a puncher. I doubt he would even step in the ring with him tbh given how much he (or rather his management) seemed to avoid punchers. One thing I know for certain is Williams has a much much better chance to win this than he ever did against Liston.

Liston didn't have any problem with size. In his last fight when he was a shell of himself, he beat the similarly sized 6'5" 230 pound Wepner. Of course, he wasn't nearly as good as Golota but it disproves Liston never proved himself against a certain size.

Bowe would dwarf Williams at 6'5 235 pounds compared to Williams at 6'3 215 pounds. That said, I wouldn't say that Williams would be "too small" vs more modern heavies as Mike Tyson in his prime was 5'11 220ish. Shorter than Williams but weighed a little more. That said, when I look at his wins against the 190ish pound Billy Daniels and that it was a UD and he didn't just knock him flat, it makes me wonder. Also considering the fact that Williams was a giant by the HW standards of his era. I don't think that Bowe would have to settle for a UD against a 190ish lbs opponent that wasn't an ATG.

As a side note, it really makes me wonder how Williams would have done vs Floyd Patterson. I know the thinking is that he would come out and destroy, but Williams isn't Liston and lesser fighters than Patterson who also was around Patterson's size made it to the end vs Williams. And yeah, Williams may have rocked Bowe, like he did Liston, but I'm pretty confident that the end of the fight would resemble what we saw with Liston.

I was never convinced Holy won that second fight. To be honest, I think if not for the fan man and Bowe's wife fainting it would have ended up at least unanimous for Bowe.
