The only attrition puncher, apart from Marciano, who comes to mind is Smokin'Joe Frazier.
Smokin'Joe might not punch as hard as Rocky but his cumulation of punches had a sickening
    effect on his opponents.

He would be my second choice.

Carlos Zarate was a hard puncher but many of his KOs came from him wearing down his opponents down the stretch while applying pressure and body shots.

Marvin Hagler.. Underrated power. look at his knockout record/percentage.

Dick Tiger is a guy that was known as a hard puncher but he also had a really low ko percentage. He simply beat guys up and wore them down with his pressure and strength.

Marciano and Zarate are good shouts, as is Arguello, imo.

They are all punchers who could take an opponent out with 1 shot too, even though they often shortened their punches (or at least didn't put maximise leverage into a single punch) and wore their opponents down.

If we were to take a stricter interpretation of the criteria laid out in the OP, I.e. the best attrional puncher who doesn't, typically, possess 1-punch KO power capability, then Carlos Monzon and Emile Griffiths may be decent shouts.

    Answer must be foreman.
He could cause attrition in 2 rounds.
He wouldnt turn your lights out like tyson or Roy jones. He could hammer you down in seconds.

Arguello, Saldivar and Pintor were my initial choices. They were all great at slowly whittling down their opponent slowly.

I'd say Monzon fits the mold too. Possibly Qawi, Marvin Johnson, Bad Bennie Briscoe, "Dick" Tiger.
All fighters that carried ko power, but usually beat the hell out the opponent 1st.

Kelly Pavlik had a lot of one punch power and volume.

I think Duran, while he flashed KO power here and there, was more of a hard-punching guy who beat opponents down.
