I was watching a highlight clip of Foreman the other day and I'm not sure which fight it was, but he had them in the corner and was dishing out those short doesn't look like full power body shots like he was doing on the heavy bag leading up to the rumble and whoever it was just crumbled, it was really smart of Foreman because it didn't seem to expend too much energy, whereas I feel like Marciano and Frazier went more balls to the wall with their pressing but they definitely had the conditioning for it
Yeah, a lot of punchers are not going full power punches every punch. I remember Kelly Pavlik was helping the commentators with a fight. It was one of the Peterson brothers fighting. Pavlik pointed out he was throwing every punch as hard as he could at the same speed. He was saying how he should be setting up his opponents with a lot more lighter slower punches.
Edwin Valero. He knocked out every one he faced. Even in his 12th round ko of some guy (idk which opponent) he was pressing for the ko since round one. For twelve rounds he was going tooth and nail !
Manny Pacquiao I consider him a pretty hard puncher with the straight left hand, but often he'd have to go rounds to get the stoppage.
Attrition is when an opponent is exausted after a fight and all those Mike beat in the firsts rounds or in the middle were all exausted because of the beatings got by him. They had no strenght to continue the fight.
