Canelo vs Badou Jack is OFF!

@shadow111 With all due respect, there's no reason to doubt Jack here unless Canelo's team come out and say it isn't true (which may happen, but hasn't yet). Hypothesising about Jack misunderstanding the offer or throwing shade on Jack's character is obviously clutching at straws, all you can and should say at this point is to wait for Canelo's team to respond.

For what it's worth, it doesn't sound unlikely to me:
1. Jack has spent most of his career at LHW,
2. Sometimes these negotiations have several options - e.g. $X million for 180 lb, $Y million for 185 lb, etc. and Jack could be speaking about one option. From memory GGG's offer to Ward a long time ago had a different split for 164 lb, 166 lb and 168 lb.

 

You're right. Problem is, these organizations only care about money. That's why you've had these catchweight titles fights over the years.

There plenty of regular ring mag contenders that would be interesting at 168lbs. He has no business fighting at cruiserweight anyway.

 

Canelo should come in at a weight he is comfortable and defeat Jack if he wants multiple weight division credit, otherwise leave it alone.

 

I doubt it. Its not rocket science.

 

Its rare for a reason, not to have the champ have to come in 20 lbs lighter than the division, with a rebydration clause. You dont deserve 5 division glory if you can't win titles in five division's.

 

Yup, come in at 180, Jack comes in at 200, or maybe he comes in at 190.

 

When Badou Jacks kids ask him for some university money 5 years from now then he will think of the great offer that he turned down.

 

I'm not a fan of catchweights simply for all the controversy that they bring but catchweights were invented for cases like this where two fighters from 2 different divisions try to meet half way.

In this case Jack asked to fight the smaller guy but balked when he realized he could not keep his weight advantage.

Everybody is talking about Jack now, so my guess is he didn't really want the smoke, just the clout.
