A very important victory for Joe Cusumano who stopped Adam Kownacki by TKO in the eighth round.

If Kownacki cannot beat that level of a HW then it’s over for him. Clearly, leading with his chin first taking flush shots in sparring and fights over the years has finally taken its toll.

Joyce will be the next HW to suffer this fate.

I genuinely think Zhang will KO him next time, or at least floor him. He nearly did that already. I really hate he took the rematch cause I like Joe, and two losses in a row to a guy you were expected to beat ain't a good look. But I like Zhang better, so I'm pulling for that to happen all the way.

On topic, I agree. It's prolly not how he wanted to go out but this isn't the worst way. He came back from a first round knockdown and toward the end recovered for a bit when his corner was supposedly on the brink of throwing in the towel. That's something out of a movie... though in a movie it would be for a title, which thankfully wasn't the case here. Anyways, I'm sure he wanted a win but going out on a performance that shows you got heart ain't a bad send off either.

Wonder what's next for Cusumano. Can't go far but this win could get him a somewhat more lucrative opportunity. I could see them throwing him in with one of the top guys as fodder. Frank Sanchez maybe?

Jesus, he really needs to quit if he can't beat a guy who loss to Dubois in a round. He's really putting his health at risk having been stopped 4 times in a row. He's clearly shot, while he was never that good to begin with the punishment he's taken in his relatively short career has eroded what ability he had.

Maybe he's is easy to hit, but Kownacki is so easy to hit he makes Joyce look elusive in comparison. So he might last a bit longer before the accumulated damage takes effect.

Sure. But he's already 38 and that approach caught up to him in his last fight.

I picked Cusumano for the upset at the last minute, as crappy as he is, he's got a nasty right hand, and Adam's chin is gone. Regardless, I didn't like how punch drunk, vacant eyed and woozy Kownacki looked entering the arena, I'd already seen enough, they should've thrown the towel in then and there.

I had a ticket on Cusumano by KO +1000. Made my month for sure.

It is time for him to retire, he's finished. Not great activity for all those years - very few decent fights and more shameful losses.

Yeah I remember having debates with those people. People seem to equate exciting to watch as fun or just get caught up in the hype train. Which happens to the best of us, I remember thinking David Price could be a contender, lol, but you learn and don't make the same mistake again which is why I didn't think Kownacki would achieve much. In the end he achieved even less than I expected, he wasn't even gate keeper level, but with hindsight gate keepers like Takam, Chisora would beat him and even prime Arreola would of likely beaten him and done so easily.
