This content is protected This content is protected We finally have details on the negotiations of this fight which could perfectly have already taken place this year. It is therefore a bit the same debate as the shares wanted by Fury and Usyk at the start of the year. For my part 60-40 Wilder would seem fair to me.
30% Is a fair offer, he didn't even have 1 successful defense as champion, so I don't know why he's trying to negotiate a 50/50 deal.
It doen't even matter about reigns and belts. Wilder is clearly the much bigger draw, 70-30 is super fair, arguably Ruiz should get less
62 1/2 - 37 1/2 and we have a deal. We get to choose the gloves, ref and site. No dehydration clause, no rematch clause.
But he beat Joshua (better victory than any of Wilder by far) and have a good popularity (1,8 million on Instagram when Wilder has 2,7).
"Around 70-30" (Ruiz Sr.) sounds like 65-35. Hopefully they will come to terms. This is probably why Ruiz turned down the Fury fight: they feel they can get better terms in a big American fight with Wilder, who is also more beatable for Ruiz. I would heavily favour Wilder but Wilder is closing in on 38, has suffered 2 KO defeats and received 6 KD’s in his last three fights and has only contested one round since October 2021. He knows that a loss to obese underdog Ruiz (who destroyed Joshua) would end his career, deny him the mega money Joshua fight and badly damage his legacy, so there's pressure. Wilder may also be excessively eager to KO Ruiz, which could backfire.
That was a Fluke, Ruiz got whooped by AJ in the rematch and struggled badly against ancient Ortiz. 50/50 ain't going to happen.
Did my eyes deceive me then? I think not, I was happy Ruiz won and was rooting for him to win, but I knew it was a Longshot, but it paid off. He looked terrible in the rematch with AJ, he struggled against past prime version of Ortiz and Arreola.
Only one fighter has a ko over the other though, and that’s more dominant and impressive. Maybe AJ has the fluke win.
