Martin is sloppy and telegraphs his backhand which is his only real weapon and I figured Anderson would see it coming but worryingly he got caught by it way too much and was hurt by it a number of times. He's lucky Martin's skill level is poor because he would've been in real trouble.

If that was a Jalolov in there with him tonight who has a long whipping accurate and very powerful southpaw left and can actually put shots together when he has you hurt he would've got knocked out. He might have dodged a bullet with Kossobutskiy pulling out. Skills are there but they need to pump the brakes a little.

Only surprise was Martin getting 2 rounds on 1 card.

Anderson went from a guy who looked like a big puncher to a guy who looks like he's gonna need to win with a Eddie Chambers like style.

I remember when Lewis scrapped by Mercer, everyone was saying he didn't have it.
This kid was fighting a southpaw, let's wait and see before signing off on his career death certificate.

I got distracted and missed this fight. From this thread it sounds like Anderson needs to take a step down and work on a few things before jumping in with Khan.

Yep. Anderson proved he has some grit and doesn't have a total glass chin, and is probably good enough to snatch a belt up when Usyk/Fury retire and the belts splinter off - but heir apparent he is not.

Harsh but Anderson definitely isn’t ready for this level and I think he realizes it.

Anderson has a long way to go. Good jab , decent power, but lacks variety in his punches. Power head shot was it.

Kudos to Martin, I thought with 12 days notice he would of pulled an "Eric Molina", but he came to try to win and not be a punching bag.

Oh yeah, there were definitely positives to tonight too. I was curious about his tank as much as his chin, and it seems like he has enough gas to go the distance when he can't get a knockout.

The main negative though is that his chin does seem to be an issue. Martin had him in bad trouble in round 5, even stunning him right at the end. He didn't seem too good coming out for the 6th either but luckily for him he was given enough time to recover. Though afterwards he was hesitant to throw like he had been in the beginning and against others, which makes me question how well he can handle adversity. But you could also argue that's just his ability to make adjustments, which would be a definite positive.

Overall it was a bit of positive and a bit of negative. The positives were things required to be a great boxer, but the negatives need worked on badly. I'm looking forward to seeing how he evolves from this.
