Frazier beat Ali. Ken Norton beat Ali. Then Foreman wiped both of them out in two rounds. So what happened when Foreman faced Ali? Ali not only won but won by KO. The moral of the story: triangle theories never work. If fighter A beats fighter B and then fighter B beat fighter C, it absolutely doesn't mean jack when it comes to who's going to win between fighter A and fighter C. Styles make fights. That said, I don't see Dubois troubling Usyk with anything. He is basically a slower and younger version of Joshua. He does have punching power, but then again, that's the least important tool for a boxer, even in the HW division. The sport is called boxing for a reason.
I agree *if* Usyk is in the form he was for Joshua, or at least close to it. But one of these days he's going to lose his legs and when that happens he'll be in trouble. I might plunk down a little coin on Dubois - currently seeing Dubois KO at +1100!
You are right on this one, as at that age, you can get old overnight. Dubois trainer said something similar, Dubois is 11 years younger than Usyk, and this may very well show. Loma is 35 and it's already past his best by some margin. Same can be say to Usyk. And he is for some time, but he is still so good. The question is for how long he can keep that shape. If Usyk from AJ fight shows up, this is going to be an easy win, and it will be a stoppage win.
Sure , but lets stay sober and do not even roughly compare ali or foreman to dubois or usyk . Foreman had 81 hw fights , ali 61 and usyk 4 . In 61 or 81 fights the triangle may not work but here imho it does say something
I agree that Dubois is no Foreman. But Usyk is the closest to Ali we've ever had in the division since. I don't think whether triangle theories work or not has anything to do with the number of fights. Most people forget how Usyk was given no chance against Joshua. Never mind the "overrated robotic bum this, no good bodybuilder that" narrative that you hear nowadays. Before the first Joshua fight, all the rage was how Usyk was going to be found out for the little pumped up CW for he was, how this was the big boys' league now and how a "good big un will always beat a good lil' un". Heck, even The Ring magazine's panel of experts overwhelmingly favoured Joshua (19 panelists voted for him out of 22). Still he became the unified champion after what was only his third HW bout. All Dubois has is a puncher's chance (as usual in HW). He really doesn't have any weapon that could bother Usyk. Could he win? Of course he can. In the HW, all it takes is one clean punch. Is it likely? I'd give him less than 5% chance to land that clean and that heavy.
When usyk manages to stay on top the heavyweight division for + 60 fights fighting the hardest opponents available we can talk about it . With usyks 4 fights against three guys we really should not insult ali - especially ali .
Dubois looked nervous, but the Ring is a different story, Dubois will eventually catch Usyk and knock him out, Dubois will not be unprepared, this is the fight of his life...
People are overlooking Dubois' body punching in this fight. Usyk is quite vulnerable to the body and Dubois throws great body shots, especially his left hook.
Dubious knows or will quickly find out his only way to win is a dog fight....and making it a dogfight is going to suck for as long as he has the stamina to keep throwing. He needs to be wrestling his sparring partners forget boxing...if he makes the same mistake as AJ and tries to box Usyk it will be a farce.
Yes . Usyk is technically superior but this is his only weapon and he knows it - so he runs away from fighters like wilder . Wilder would not care about clean technical boxing but would mindmill usyk to death - he knows this too.
Good to see some fighters fighting. As opposed to making incredibly dull Netflix series about their house.
Better than nothing I guess but at his age Usyk should only be taking legacy fights and Dubois should be earning his ranking by fighting an Anderson or Mahmoudov type guy.
I hope it's a good competitive scrap. About time we got a decent heavyweight contest. Just cos Dubois looked like a big swollen baby who can't count to ten, doesn't mean he won't perform well.
People like you are the reason I made a killing off AJ-Usyk1, who think every fight in history is some Fury-Wilder type affair where grug smash fights a ballerina One look at Usyk's ringcraft against AJ in round 9 of their rematch or Usyk never having touched the canvas professionally tells you all you need to know. There's far more in his arsenal than just a pawing southpaw jab and left hands down the pipe
