Is it true that Ross Greenburg is one of the major problems in boxing? It's true that Hbo those not really know how to built stars like they use to, and I always see the same old guys in there program. For the past year now I've been liking Showtime interms of seeing fresh faces. Could Boxing problem be directed to GBP trying to manipulate and control HBO? Pretty sure Arum is just sore GBP is getting more dates then he is? But how much of his rant is true?
It sure seems that way. HBO now shoves DLH down our throat against lightweights now. There are a lot more important meaningful fights other than Oscar against the cherry pick of the month.
Oscar has been good for boxing and HBO has been good for boxing. The problem is in having only two competing networks for the best fights. Competition makes everyone better. HBO can choose to have their handlful of big fights and the same for Showtime, but if another network stepped up, it would make all of them better.
I love how fans blame HBO and Oscar for their own stupidity. HBO gives us garbage because they know we will pay to see garbage. If people stopped running like puppies and shelling out $60 to watch DLH vs ______, it would stop. Instead buy the good PPV's and HBo will see that there is profit in giving fans the fights that they actually want.
Read this article earlier today and it is a fantastic read. Hauser is a great writer. Arum seems pretty pissed off with the way HBO is going. He's also correct in saying you need a person who knows boxing to run HBO that way they know which fights to make and fans get their money's worth.
It seems like Ross Greeneburg is the moron that doesn't seem to have a clue or any interest in the sport he's basically in charge of promoting. And that's sad. I really all of the politics in boxing. I wish it was like the UFC where there is only one champ and that champ has to fight the top contenders. That's why even the best UFC fighters have a few losses. Boxing just has too many small parties that only look out for their own interests. Boxing will never compete with the UFC given these shortcomings.
