I like Propa Boxing, he is a funny chap. But he got this one wrong. I don't see how or why the outcome would any different this time. Zhang is just a better fighter than Joe.
Joyce isn't going to suddenly learn defense and head movement in his late 30s and Zhang has good counters and hits way too hard to block his punches with your face. Bad style match up for Joe.
I think Joyce could beat Zhang, I just don't think five months is enough time for him to make the necessary changes to do so. I personally feel like it's gonna take more than "outlasting" him. A lot of folks say that Zhang was already gassing out by round 6, and I see where they're coming from but I'm not entirely convinced that was the case. I think he still had plenty in the tank, he was just being selective about what he threw because he knew that eye was a good opportunity to get the fight stopped, and it paid off. Stamina is a real issue for him, but I don't think it's as bad as people say it is. Despite his loss to Hrgovic, that fight showed he can be reasonably active for about eight rounds and even gassed out he can still land damaging shots. Just as long as his body ain't shutting down on him, which hopefully won't be a factor in any other fight I actually think Zhang might get a genuine KO this time around. Joe very nearly suffered a knockdown in just the second round last time out, which says to me his tactic of eating punches finally caught up with him. I readily admit I'm a big fan of Zhang though, so my favoritism and hope that he wins again is probably making me biased and see what I want to see. On top of that, when both guys are coming to fight, you just never know what can happen.
Why I think It will be a different fight. Zhang will just work on power and no stamina at all in the 2nd fight. He is going to gas in about 3 rnds.
Joyce only lost that first fight on damage. With the home cooked cards and Big Bang tiring he would have cruised to a points win. If he can get to the end of Round 6 with his face in tact then he'll win this. I think the odds on him are quite generous given the factors in his favour.
Zhang drops him early and keeps him down this time. Joyce has the worst defence in all boxing, when people start saying how good your chin is that basically just means your face is a punching bag
Dang. I was looking for a reason to not bet on Zhang, and you actually did a good job convincing me Joe has a chance. If he can make it to the 7th round or so maybe he comes on strong enough to get a controversial decision.
This fights an aftertimers special pre fight Zhang had no chance now Joyce has no chance both wrong this is a competetive fight if joyce can improve his defence then he can take it if not Zhang has a good chance again any man's fight this one anyone saying otherwise knows nowt
It will be great if Joyce can do different this time, even if he loses again. But looking back at his fights, the guy never changed a bit throughout his entire career. I don't see him doing it now - he has low adaptability and IQ, zero head movement. He never was very fast, so how exactly it will end differently this time? Probably losing on points.
Haha. I think the key for him is to put on a big more of that bulk and discourage Zhang from standing in front of him with impunity. He's not going to magically start ducking and diving given how easily Zhang landed in fight 1, he needs to discourage Zhang from opening up. If he gets there we know Joyce will be throwing all through the back half of the fight which should guarantee him 4 rounds on activity alone.
Joyce's only way to win this fight is if he extends Zhang into 2nd half of the fight, but I don't know how Joyce is not going to take punishment in the first 6 rounds his defence is too leaky and Zhang is a sharp straight puncher. This fight actually kind of reminds of Price vs Thompson two very similar scenarios actually. Price was a highly rated upcoming British Heavyweight, who was stopped in his tracks by a veteran Southpaw. Took an immediate rematch and once again lost to Thompson. I wonder if history repeats itself.
