I like your enthusiasm, but Bugner and Knoetzee were only contenders.

    Jersey Joe Walcott

He lost to Louis twice in title challenges, then he lost to Charles for the vacant title.

He really should have given up at this point.

    Janitor, remember the OP:

"So there's the question. Do you have any more that lost 3 in a row to 3 different world champions? Not a win thrown in or a rematch with the same fighter, but 3 losses in a row to 3 different world champs."

As soon as I saw this thread question, I thought ‘Bukkake is going to be all over this’.

    Does Jose Medel count?

In 1967, he lost three straight fights to Fighting Harada, Chuco Castillo and Efren Torres. The first fight was for the World Bantamweight title but Castillo and Torres were yet to become world champions when he fought them.

The first thing I thought of was Axel Schulz lost to Foreman, Botha and Moorer in 3 goes at the IBF title all consecutively...although one was later changed to NC.

Then again, two were for the vacant title.

If I was going by the letter of the law, I would say that Botha fight wouldn't count once it was changed to a NC for Botha's use of PEDs. But I still say good try.

Roy Jones Jr did it against Green, Hopkins, and Lebedev. He also lost 3 earlier, to Tarver, Johnson, and then Tarver again so that one doesn't count, I don't think.

Good idea for a thread. Tommy Farr - lost to Louis for the title. Then against former champions Braddock and Baer.
