He for sure overcame alot of obstacles to get to the top and was a very dedicated fighter in his prime. Self belief and determination can go a long way as he proved. At one point he was actually let go by a promotional outfit who thought he wasn't skilled enough and took too much punishment.
I always liked the guy. What you see is what you get. Always came to fight and gave his best. He was an overachiever.
