Are Bud fans right or are they more concerned about Boots?

It’s a good fight, but kind of pointless without Ennis beating someone of note.

Stanionis is the first mandatory in line. Crawford should fight him, that’s still a good fight we’d enjoy. and Ennis should fight Thurman. Winner’s meet in the second half of 2024.

It’s all PBC/showtime too, barring Crawford. They should do a double-header, whether It’s Thurman who walks into the ring, or Ennis, words will be exchanged and profit will go up, as well as people can say it’s a solid win should Crawford beat either one.

 

There isnt much time though. Crawford is 35 and might move up. I prefer him boots within 2 fights fot this reason.

 

I agree it's a good fight but if Crawford beats him fans will just say "Oh Ennis was unproven/overrated, and never beat anyone of note".

The only problem is who can Ennis really beat at Welterweight other than Crawford obviously to prove he is the real deal ?

Maybe Ortiz, Thurman, or Ugas ?

 

He is a mandatory for the IBF, so if Bud doesn't think the fight makes sense he's got 2 choices. Fight or Vacate. It's a cracking fight hopefully we'll get that fight soon.

 

I think when fighters say that it's because they look at them as a threat, and want to get paid big money for the risk. Champions have been fighting their mandos forever, this should just be looked at by Crawford as fulfilling his obligation as champion, not a big PPV megafight, he's a damn mandatory challenger.

 

Bud will give Ennis a valuable lesson. There are levels in this game and if they meet, Boots is going to learn the hard way.

 

Who has Boots beaten to be considered a threat?

 

I think Boots is really good and is definitely capable of being a great champion. I don’t think he beats Bud.

 

Irrelevant, who did any of the mandos beat to be considered a threat? Mandatories are essentially the number 1 challenger for a sanctioning body, whether the champion wants to fight them or not is a different story. De LA Hoya fought Carr, Trinidad fought Whitaker, Taylor fought Wright and Pavlik, why wouldn't Crawford want to fight Boots?

 

While Ennis hasn't beaten anyone of note, he has a few good wins over contenders. If he's a mandatory, then he should get his shot. Only thing that 'could' stop that is if TC drops the belts and moves up to conquer JrMW.

 

All those fighter’s you mentioned where proven and in the p4p list

 

Carr was p4p? Whitaker was p4p in 1999? Pavlik was p4p in 07? No, just because those said fighters were ranked in the top 10 in their division doesn't make them p4p top 10 fighters. Those guys were number 1 contenders, the same that Boots is to Crawford.

 

Only one you MIGHT have a point is on Carr. But Pernell had a HOF body of work prior. Pav beat some very good contenders before Taylor. And Winky was a long standing JrMW titlist with some good wins already.

 

My point is those guys were all number 1 contenders and they got their opportunity at the title. Crawford saying a mandatory challenger brings nothing to the table is essentially what a mandatory brings....NOTHING.
