I watched it recently and really think this fight should have been a draw. I do not think it was a particularly hard fight to score, except for Round 6 which I think Leonard stole.

    Here is my card:
    R1: Leonard
    R2: Leonard
    R3: Leonard
    R4: Leonard
    R5: Hagler
    R6: Leonard
    R7: Hagler
    R8: Hagler
    R9: Hagler
    R10: Hagler
    R11: Leonard
    R12: Hagler

I know there are different views on this fight.I would just be interested in which particular round of my scorecard you disagree.

Here’s how I had it fairly recently on the What Fights Did You Watch Today/Scorecards thread:

    1 — Leonard 10-9

    2 — Leonard 10-9

    3 — Leonard 10-9 (c)

    4 — Leonard 10-9

    5 — Hagler 10-9 (c)

    6 — Leonard 10-9

    7 — Hagler 10–9

    8 — Hagler 10-9

    9 — Leonard 10-9 (c)

    10 — Hagler 10-9

    11 — Leonard 10-9 (c)

    12 — Hagler 10-9

My score: Leonard 115-113 (7-5 in rounds)

I don’t have a problem with any score giving it to either guy close or a draw. There are, as you see from my notes, several rounds that are very close and it depends on which guy’s work you liked more in those rounds. I think Leonard pretty clearly had the better of it early and Hagler pretty clearly had a stretch where he had the better of it. It’s those other rounds that decide it.

I remember clearly thinking Hagler left meat on the bone and should have picked up the pace. He landed some shots that were nice and moved Leonard, but I think those flurries were more than just flash and dash, Hagler was getting stung legitimately and those ended up being the best punches of the round. I think I had it edged to Leonard last time, but it was close.

Most cards I see are fairly consistent about the first 6 or 7 rounds. Leonard usually takes rounds 1-4, Hagler round 5 and Leonard round 6 so Leonard is 5-1 up at the halfway point. Then Hagler takes round 7 and then things start deviating.

I’ve always felt that a draw would have been a fair verdict. Not denying Leonard the win though

the 118 - 110 scorecard stunk up a Great fight. There's zero justification for it, I think a draw or a 1 point SRL win was a good representation of the fight ... and would have no gripe at all if Hagler got the nod

7-5 in rounds for Leonard. If some people saw it as a draw, I wouldn't go to war over it, but I still think Leonard won and it was a fair verdict.

Regardless, not the kind of fight you could call a "robbery" like Hagler acted it was. His cornermen should have been speaking to him with more urgency. Instead, they acted like it was just another day at the office. Hagler should have ended his career going all out and throwing caution to the wind. Leonard was not trying to knock him out, that wasn't his goal. Marvin should have jumped on him like he did Hearns.

Ive watched it 3 times. First time 7-5 Leonard, 2nd time 8-4 Leonard, 3rd time 9-3 Leonard. I know im in the minority but I dont really see the argument for Hagler winning. Or even a draw for that matter.

His corner was terrible in that fight. This is where his loyalty hurt him

They were, terrible. They got themselves a world champion with him, but I don't know how good they really were as trainers.

I agree. If it weren't for Hagler constantly repeating the "I was robbed" story, I don't think that narrative would have gained any momentum. Had he just accepted the loss, nobody would be complaining that it was a robbery.

Sometimes I've scored it 8-4 as well. In any case to me it was a clear verdict. He just allowed Leonard to get off first and fought the entire fight like his finger was on the trigger and he never pulled it. Even the rounds I gave to Hagler were questionable...

I thought Marv was going to ask for Rays autograph in the first four rounds.
