Swag may well be a millionaire before 21!!!

What do you think of this Foreman right hand? 1.29 and missed by the commentators. Ali takes it flush and his head simply bounces back into position as if nothing happened. Pure insanity.

I'll add the uppercut here too. I think he did feel that one.

Brutal. I think a good part of how we perceive the force of a punch is how the recipient takes it - and given chins the likes of Ali, even Foreman himself, etc., and how they reacted - well, that can sometimes lead to underrating the punch they took - if that makes sense.

I mean, given how Foreman took some of Ali’s own shots - Ali’s own power of punch in Zaire is often not fully appreciated.

Though, as solid visual evidence, I will say I’ve never seen Foreman’s head so severely snapped and spun as much and as often as Ali managed it. Even though Foreman hung tough and took them for a bit, Ali’s punches still looked pretty damn hard in their own right.

That Foreman uppercut was an absolute bell ringer. See Ali, straight after that punch, still having the mind to talk in Foreman’s ear? Unreal.

No doubt Ali was denigrating Foreman’s punch and questioning George’s “so called” power, yet again.

Funny, when a younger Foreman was asked how he would go against Ali, he said he thought he could knock Ali out but didn’t believe that he could ever shut him up - adding that, even if on the canvas. Ali would still lift his head up to spout some more vitriol at George. Haha.

Speaking of chins that don’t give away as much as what the punch might warrant against most other opponents…

…The many shots that Cobb took flush from Shavers would most likely have put down a lot of other fighters.

Earnie did complain of traction issues - and he can be seen slipping/sliding on the canvas at different points.

Earnie claimed that those issues took from the full potential of his punch power - imo, that makes total sense without it being seen as a false excuse.

The vision certainly corroborates the fact that Earnie had difficulties keeping his feet ideally set for punching - but it’s still wonder that Cobb took the power shots that Earnie did land.

A remarkable display of courage and smarts from Basilio in an utterly astonishing fight. Thank god we have the whole of that fight from the ‘50s to enjoy.

This may be one of my favourite ‘people didn’t read the thread OP properly’ thread

Might be easier to put ‘that didn’t result in a knockdown’ in the thread title?

I don’t think any heavyweight ever stood up to that many KO-laden punches from one of the hardest punchers in history. Ali had one of the all-time great chins and hearts.

I like this crisp right hand by Laporte. Pedroza had a great chin.

Not sure if this was posted yet by the left hook Leonard hit at 9:41 was flush and could have been heard from Mars and Green barely reacted to it
