Maybe. He said he could make 154 for Mayweather so maybe he could make 160 same day. That would have to be early GGG before he bulked up. That said I don't believe he'd be as effective with a same day 160 weigh in as opposed to getting a day to rehydrate and recover even if he could make it.
That's not a knock: This content is protected When Lemieux touches guys clean they drop like they're shot
G was is bad when he got hit to the body by Devernchenko. I cannot recall Hagler ever being as visibly bothered by body shots. Either way, a tough call, but I lean Hagler. Just a gut feeling.
He’s a big puncher but he doesn’t measure up Hearns or Mugabi. Both of their nicknames were a perfect fit.
Hi Guys. I can only see 3 MWs with a realistic chance of taking Hagler, SRR, Greb, and Monzon, can't make a case for any of the rest, and that includes GGG. Stay safe chaps.
From what I understand, he fought with the flu? Unsure If that was a rumour. I mean If you're going to beat GGG, I think the body is probably the best place to start.
I just don’t see either fighter being stopped really. Both far far too tough and durable. I would lean to Hagler but I do concede that GGG has a clear size advantage. Hagler has the faster hands a bit more variety. And a far better resume.
Apparently he'd been sick in camp or so it was claimed. Could be, could also be BS. Let's face it if Derevyanchenko had all his close decisions go his way he'd have a nice little resume. I'd agree that Golovkin looked probably the most bothered by that punch that he's ever been. But if that's as hurt as he's ever been in a fight it speaks volumes for his toughness, since he shrugged it off and kept on ticking. Hagler had also been hurt to the body, notably against Mugabi. I think it was Tommy Hearns who was doing the commentary and he remarked on how Hagler wasn't enjoying Mugabi's body work. Then again - Hagler shrugged it off and went on to whup Mugabi. If we're talking about who is more likely to benefit from punching to the body betwen Hagler and GGG then I'd argue GGG will benefit more. He's the bigger man with a track record of destroying guys with the liver shot and other body blows. His tucked up stance also makes it harder to catch him hard to the body, as he holds his elbows well down so that he can drop them to catch incoming blows to the ribs. This is also what makes him susceptible to the uppercut in my opinion.
Obviously GGG beats him, Hagler was a welterweight by todays standards Better convo would be Crawford vs Hagler
No he wasn`t, he was actually smaller than Mugabi despite Mugabi coming up from 154, but Hagler was long, he had a 75 inch reach, GGG only had a 70 inch reach by comparison.
